My Ipod freezes on a black screen with a white dot in the middle when switching off and I have to wait till its out of battery before I can restart it. Anyone know whats the problem and how to fix?

Back it all up on iTunes.
Take it to an Apple Store if Warranty still exists.

It only happens occasionally.

Still. It's probably a hardware fault.
