Will I lose anything on my iPod doing this? Is it safe to do? Thanks.

umm.. why would you want to jailbreak? iPhone 3.0 will bring many new features which encouraged people to jailbreak in the past, so I don't know why people still want to jailbreak. The only 2 applications that I ever wish Apple bring for us are Intelliscreen and Folders (or that app where we can have folders). Other than that (copy-paste, MMS, video recording, universal landscape keyboard, etc) will all be included in 3.0

I myself have never jailbroken my iPhone. I'm just afraid it'll mess up my iPhone and I don't wanna risk losing any data. I also heard some games run less smoothly and crashes more on jailbroken iDevices.

I really don't know why. I just want to, getting a theme is about the only thing I want to do. I don't really care if I do or not though.

I agree. I think that the iPhone/iPod Touch will follow the PSP. With the PSP, there was the ability to hack (jailbreak) the PSP which allowed you to use custom themes, PS1 games etc. However, Sony saw what hackers were doing and decided to include it in an official update which allowed people to do the same things on a normal PSP as a hacked PSP could. Already with the 3.0 update, lots of things will be included that make jailbreaking pointless and a waste of time. Also, I used to have a jailbroken iPhone, but it ran really slow and apps where crashing all the time. The actual home screen used to crash and white-out and I lost all my data . So after that, I restored it to factory settings and it worked fine.

You don't understand why some people jailbreak. I jailbreak to get themes, something apple may never give us, also, don't tell someone not to jailbreak if you yourself have not been jailbroken

there will be no video recording in 3.0... sometimes apple does not think!!

So the 3.0 update lets you block all ads in Safari, use Custom Themes, change your system fonts, have nice widgets, play GBA games, and just add a lot of other cool little tweaks to the iDevice?

You can't mess up your iPhone unless you really, really, try to. I personally love my Jailbroken iPod Touch 2G and haven't had any issues with App-Store games I purchased freezing or lagging or anything

It is impossible to mess up your iPhone jailbreaking because you will always be able to get into DFU mode

Well, I got one good reply so thanks. I might jailbreak just to check it out, don't know if it is worth it though.

jailbreakin usually works out, but its an annoying process and sumtimes (well for me) the apps just crash your ipod and you gotta reinstall everything. Really doesnt give you much except for fonts and apps.

@Dudez0r: I really don't know how you couldn't get back into DFU Mode. If you follow the instructions to the letter, you'll be fine.

@Sambo110: I'd reccomend Jailbreaking, the advantages really do outweigh the disadvantages, Not only do you get Themes and such, but access to loads of Apps you couldn't normally run.

@donkei: So with 3.0, we'll be able to run unauthorized apps, play emulators, use themes, and customize the OS itself? Jolly good! ;)

The top one. I don't remember what it's called. But not the developer and not the hacker one. The top one is the one you should be choosing.

It can not be broken. You will always be able to put it into DFU mode unless you have a hardware defect

If you don't have anything helpful to say, don't say anything.
