Well... it doesn't look like it has retina display. I remember it going on sale a while back, decided not to get it because it looked like it lacked polish(not from the graphics alone, but from gameplay too).

Personally this game wasn't much fun for me. The graphics didn't help (I can overlook it)..but I just couldn't get used to the attacking controls. For me, Infinity Blade was much more fun and the combat was more satisfying. To me, the main advantage of Monster Hunter is you can walk around the monster instead of being stuck in front of it.

At 0.99, its cheap to try..but if it was me, I wouldn't have bought this. There are others who had fun with this..

As an aside..I don't know why I get tempted by these Capcom games. I bought this, Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 4 on the iOS..and the one I like the most was RE4 (aside from the escort missions). DMC4 was fun, but its a solid 6-7 out of 10 for me.

Speaking as someone who loves the monster hunter series. If your looking for a monster hunter style fix for ios pick up "invader hunter" it's way better than this. (I'm sad to say) if capcom had of made monster hunter the same way as invader hunter it would have been amazing.
