I recently released my first iPhone game. In some reviews I've read that the game offers a lot of content for it's small size.

To maximize the downloads I made sure I kept the package size below 20 MB, but now I think it might be too small and customers might think it cannot offer anything because it's only about 4 MB.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

My guess is most real customers will never pay attention to the download size. The only time it matters is when it is over 20MB and they can't download it then and there, and once that happens you will lose sales.

If you feel you must up the download footprint, at least use it to add real value to your game.

On a related note, I hope Apple ups this limit soon. Even bumping it to 25MB would make a huge difference for a lot of games.

We've had lengthy discussions about the 20MB cap over here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=106803

Thanks, I read it, but it's mostly about an app being over 20 MB, my question is about it being too small.

For example, I could imagine a response like this one:
"Hmz, this app looks okay, but it's only 4MB so it's probably not offering a lot, I'd better skip."

I think you can worry less about package size and more about things like screenshots/logo/app icon in general. If those things nail it, I doubt most people are going to be daunted by smaller app size. Your graphics on Eve look nice but the screens are definitely stark compared to something like Alien Space Retro (http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=1977332&postcount=166)..

I'll look into Alien Space Retro's screenshots.. solid advice! Thanks!

yeah, size is of no concern unless people can't impulse buy :D

oh and it's not the size of your package...
