I am a PC user (I know, but i cant afford a mac!) that really wants to program an app for the iphone. I have some good ideas, but unfortunatley, I cannot find any options for PC users. So i have some questions
-Are there any PC programmer out there?
-If so, what do you use (and could you post a link

Thanks

I am programming on a PC, but for the iPhone you need a MAC !
A MAC laptop (intel based) will do the job for the start. Xcode is free but only for MACs available.

PC Dev-ing is entirely possible. Trace was PC made, for example: Make your game in C++ on a PC, and then translate it over to the SDK at the end (Which you WILL have to get a Mac for, btw). It requires one more layer of stuff to do in the final translation, but if you're not sure if you want to take the plunge and buy a mac yet then this might be the way to go.

Sure you can't afford $600 for a Mac mini? Because you don't need a $3K Mac Pro or anything.

Are you a student? Apple usually has a discount for students. I don't know if it's still the case, but my first Mac was a mini and I got a discount at that time.

I wasn't sure Mini would be okay for development, but it's been awesome thus far. I only have 1GB RAM, but have not run into any issues. Highly recommended for PC users to get started on iPhone dev.

If you where an expert coder, and could actually do it, and had a through knowledge of the iPhone filesystem and developing methods and layout, you could manually code everything on a PC. Compiling and all, but it's impractical, and far easier to just "Get a Mac". Or wait for WWDC to see if Apple has "iPhone SDK for PC" up it's sleeve. It would never happen with Steve present, but anything is possible.
