Nice trailer but I wished they showed some gameplay. From what I've heard, the gameplay involves cutting the victim.
Regardless, it's one of my favorite shows so I hope the game does it justice.

P.S. This should totally be in the Upcoming Games forum... *sigh*

i want this game NOW!
That model of "Dexter" is hilarious! Is that really supposed to be him?
The character creator in Lego Batman could probably do a better job!

You're confusing Dexter with Breaking Bad, Albie. ;)
You know I had no idea what Breaking Bad until I went to wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breaking_Bad
It sounds like a very entertaining show. Sounds like Drug Wars to me or in iTunes case Candy Wars

Woah, those graphics look sick guys.
I'm definitely looking forward to this one coming out :):).
Now that I've looked at the 2nd stealth video, I think they should have varied stealth scenarios like Syphon Filter 1 & 2. Remember escaping the airforce base? Infiltrating the Agency in the doctor disguise? The tunnel? The bridge? Great fun!

Apparently, the game is episodic. All episodes will be done by the time the game's 1st episode launches in the summer so that they can be released on time (unlike Hysteria Project which is waiting to see how episode1 sells before even beginning to film more).

Looks good. Any word on the release date or price?
And they need to watch ther language, this is a family game, lol.

Hey Guyz :) Have you checked out the upcoming Dexter..
The game was going to release soon in april but later it was said that will be released. (Q2-2009) :)
The game looks awesome, check out the graphics
About the game;
Based on the television series, Dexter follows Dexter Morgan, a forensic blood spatter expert for the Miami Dade Police Department whose perfectly respectable persona hides a dark compulsion: he is a serial killer who hunts down people who have escaped justice. The game takes the dark and brutal series and gives you control of the action and investigations.
You have two choices for how to control Dexter: you can tilt the iPhone left and right, then use the forward and backward buttons on-screen, or use a virtual joystick in the lower corner of the screen. Dexter's interactions with other people require thought and strategy, as to not raise suspicions for Dexter's "Dark Passenger". This means maintaining your "Mask" - if this meter goes all the way down, it is game over. Scripted by one of the show's writers, Timothy Schlattmann, and voiced by Michael C. Hall himself (star of the Dexter show), the game is a dark and addictive "premium" game that is unlike anything else released for this platform.

Looks like it could be good, as long as they stick with the plot of the seasons the game is based off, along with a decent control scheme. Hopefully it won't be tagged with a price of $9.99.

i think this looks a damn good game, really can't wait.
and to the people who complain about the guy not looking like the actual actor, who cares, it must be pretty hard to get an exact look on an ipod and keep the graphics as good as the rest.
although i do hope graphics are actually this good, i hate it when you go up close to things and they go all pixely, eg. the lights in the watchmen game.

i loved the tv series and cant wait for the game to come out. the episodic idea sounds well kool and the graphics look amazing. I've heard that it's going to come out soon and all episodes will be released by the time season 4 is launched. so its should be a long summer of Dexter.
About the price, i hope its not going to be too much but i dont think it'll put me off two much as i know there will be lots of fun to be had. hope theres new stuff in there aswell as whats been seen on the tv series.

http://www.iphonegamenetwork.com/e3-dexter-–-updated-hands-on
Back at GDC, Matt and Dave got hands on with the ambitious Dexter game for iPhone. You can read that initial hands on here. Today we got a chance to play with the latest build, and it’s shaping up nicely hopefully in time for a summer release at a price point somewhere int he region of $5-$10.
The controls are still working great, with both tilt and touch controls working equally well, so it caters to your individual preference. Visually the game has been given more polish, with textures and models looking great on the iPhone screen across both first person or 3rd person viewpoints.
The game also now includes cut scenes, and while some of these are place holder animatics, some of it, including the intro, has been fully rendered using the in-game engine and featuring the voice work of Dexter himself, Michael C. Hall. What’s nice is that Michael recorded dialogue exclusively for the game, and it doesn’t just feature voice from the show.
Character faces look great, with different levels of detail used in pats of the game, for example in close up dialogue scenes the faces are rendered in higher resolution, but for for over the shoulder exploration scenes, a lower poly model is used resulting in smoother gameplay.
We were taken through the first level of the first episode, with the game eventually covering all first season. This first level acted like a tutorial, and saw you taking dexter through the environment hunting for clues, so you can have a legitimate reason for that final kill. We picked up a shovel and in a track and field style mini game, uncovered some shallow graves of murdered children.
Next we had to catch the killer, this activates stalker mode, which is kinda like metal gear style stealth gameplay. You must follow him by using objects like bushes and benches as cover, get too close and he’ll spot you. Once he’s captured you move on to the gruesome kill room, where you must get him to confess by all means necessary. This activates a mass effect style conversation, with you choosing either dark or light options which changes the way you play, and effects your dark mask. Once he’s confessed, you get to take him out with a gruesome mini game, which unfortunately was just a placeholder swipe of the screen for now, with a more interactive death scene promised in the final build.
Dexter is looking great, and from a non-watcher of the series, it still appeals to me as a solid and ambitious adventure game. Stay tuned to iPhone Games Network on the run up to release for more on the game.
We’ll have video of the game in action on our E3 Vodcast special, in the meantime check out the new screens below.

maybe you should look that information up for yourself rather than asking everyone else to do it for you. OR...you could realize that none of us really know, and when someone says apparently the end of the month, that's all any of us know, and your being a jerk making a comment like that. Would you rather someone give you a timeline answer, or no answer at all?

I guess end of this month won't happen, they will likely bring the game out at the start of season 4 as a promotion.
And the first episode of season 4 will arrive at 09/27/09, so maybe game is out in 4th week of september ;)

No, they won't release the game when season 4 starts. Last time I checked, they were about 80% finished with the game. And also, they said that they would release new levels when new episodes of season 4 come out, in updates. So that kind of tells us that it will be released before season 4.
Well if I do have to wait until september to get my evil hands on the game, I may have to take my anger out and kill someone (as long as they satisfy Harry's code of course ;))

this is no argument, in comparison MotorStorm Pacific Rift had a 94 % complete code when the game was shown in summer 2007, you could have guessed then that it would have been arrived end 2007, but it didn't.
Even if a programmer think the game code/media parts are nearly complete, the manager of a studio has the last word, and the suits often decides stupidly to hold on.
I think the idea to release updates with new levels on season4 was just an idea and must be thrown away because time is starting to run out

No that's not that. the way they want to do it is bring four episodes that cover the "ice truck killer" from season 1. So it'll be 4 separated games. They want to bring them one at a time in a regular way and will deliver the last one before season 4 starts. They want to do all the episodes before they launch the first one. From the info they've given it looks like the first one will be shipping end of june early july. The first episode will have 5 hours of gameplay.
This post should no be seen as offending, i'm just saying facts here. also i love dexter a lot and this is my most anticipated game on the iphone. And also can't wait for season 4!

Oh no that sounds stupid, so I put them 4 icons beside the 3 of toy bot diaries or what :p
5 wasted icon slots, it could be only 2... 3.0 has only 11 pages, I don't like it to use spotlight for disappeared icons on page 12 in the future, my free app slots are running out again
I HOPE they roll out the last 3 episodes as in game purchases

To me it looks like what I term "nu school adventure".
By that I mean it hearkens more to the adventure game genre than any action game, and, despite having some periods of action, is not an action/adventure as the mix isn't fully mixed.
If you've played other "nu school" adventure games you'll know what I mean. Games like Dreamfall, Shenmue, Indigo Prophecy, and Omikron: The Nomad Soul all fall within this category. It would seem to me, from the videos I've seen and the impressions written that Dexter falls into that sort of category.
Isn't Awake a nu school adventure game?

Speck is making a Dexter case to come out alongside the game.
http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/07/24/speck-to-release-dexter-iphone-case/
I won't be getting the case, but I'll definitely be getting the game as soon as it's released. It looks like it's actually going to be a full complete game (hopefully) and even if I didn't like the show I think I'd still be interested in getting the game. Hopefully it's released soon. I wouldn't be suprised if they released it in September around the time that the fourth season begins.

Game leaves in the end of September, most likely, as the premiere 4 seasons will begin.
The game delay consists that Showtime have agreed with icarus studios (developers Dexter: The Game) to please admirers of a serial not only a premiere 4 seasons, but also game on popular iPhone/iPod Touch

So, Arn, Hodapp, or who ever played this. Is it a free roaming game or is it confined?
Edit: Another question. What can you do in the game besides kill someone each episode? What else is there about this one?
