Hey guys.
With the soon-to-be released 2.2 firmware, i have a few questions.
I have my ipod touch 1st generation jailbroken . If I upgrade to 2.2, It will erase everything, but I can't jailbreak it again until there is a jailbreak for 2.2 right? Or can i use Quickpwn as I did when I got the 2.1?

Thanks!

If you upgrade to 2.2, you will unfortunately lose all your cracked apps from 2.1. If you would like to keep those apps, while on 2.2 firmware, you would have to wait for the quickpwn/winpwn for 2.2 to be released.

There have been warnings by the iPhone dev team to not upgrade until they release the updated pwnage tool.

I just tried to jailbreak my iPhone 2.2 with all the new stuff. It seemed to work fine, but when the phone restarted it stuck on the apple screen. After a few hours of freaking out, I think I got my iPhone restored and wil not be attempting another jailbreak anytime soon.

I used QuickPwn22 and iPhone1,1_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw - no luck

EDIT - iPhone is now jailbroken. Wow - love it!

Illegal!

If you were a developer who had just spent months developing a fantastic app, and then people like you went to steal it, you would be piss** off.

If you can't afford to obtain the apps legally, then don't use them at all.

Wow, great use of asterisks there, moron. Anyway, I agree with everything else.

The only reason the jailbreaking community is so popular is because people like you and Apple are trying so hard to stop all of it

If people were to let it be, hardly anyone would know about jailbreaking

Jailbreaking adds SNES emulator, video recorder, Winterboard, apps not available in the app store like Tivo controller...
It's not all about cracked apps ya know.

I don't agree with getting cracked apps, but I do agree with what you said. I really really want to jailbreak my iPod (2G, so I can't... yet...), but not for the free apps. I really want to be able to customize my iPod (a new wallpaper please!). I want to change my iPod to how I think it should look. Now I just need to wait for a 2g jailbreak to come out :(

jailbreaking is awesome

-- Cut and paste
-- MMS messaging
-- Video wallpaper
-- customer themes
-- Customer sound themes
-- Categories to put apps in custom folders so you can have more than 9 pages

pretty much anything that people complain they wish the iphone had and should come out with is already to use on a jailbroken phone

As a jailbreak newbie how do I add these features? What are the apps and are they in Cydia or Installer?
