No it is not a rumor.
The dev is working on it. dont know the release date though.

On-topic, and Carmack's update was a fascinating read. I like his commitment to the project, his understanding that it's a lot more serious a project than Wolfenstein was.

I will buy this on release day, and it's really nice to know it might actually come out this month.
