no, once again, if you restore your ipod (on itunes, go to your devices menu and click on your itouch, then click restore), for some reason apple lets you dl the 3.0 firmware for free (i make sure i dont have money in my account just to make sure). i did not pay $10.

EDIT: this also worked for 2.0 when it came out (i just found it randomly, i click restore not knowing what it did then i got the update without spending $10)

i havent jailbreaked it yet, im going to wait a few days to make sure there arent any problems, even though all the bigs were probably already squashed out; just to make sure

and yes, i do have an ipod touch 2g

fin i admit it, im trolling, it doesnt really work, apple isnt that stupid, but i really do have a itouch 2g and i really sometimes help my friend who works with ngmoco

EDIT: just so you know, people made that up so others would feelnsad about spending $10
2nd EDIT: also if you dont want to shell out ten bucks you can wait for the next minor firmware update (3.0.1 or 3.1) THAT actually works

I'm stayin' away from this jailbreak crap. It screwed up my iPod big time. Now I have to go to Apple today to get it fixed. I just jailbroke my iPod to get Themes and Emulators with Roms. I'm fine with 3.0.:D It hasn't given me any problems at all. I love it and will never jailbreak again.

Nope, I was talking to some people over at iPTFs and they said that you might run into problems and that it is safer to set up as new, so I did.

You could try restoring from back up, I am not sure how it would turn out tho, cause some people said it would cause issues, some said it would be fine. I just wanted to be on the safe side

Okay nevermind I got things up and running again.

DON'T use Lockdown though, it crashes the Springboard everytime you try to open up an app. That's what it did for me at least. Which sucks, because I loved Lockdown..

Can someone help me?

Im on the last page on redsn0w but it still says "Please wait while your device is being jailbroken" after about 20 minutes.

And then at the bottom of the page it says "Waiting for reboot".
How long is it supposed to be?

It hung on me for one of the reboots so I just disconnected, reset it into DFU mode reconnected and re-ran redsn0w and it completed without any problems.

Mine seemed to have completed just fine, but after rebooting my iPod it's still no different. At least I don't see Cydia anywhere

How come when I ran aptbackup it god rid of all my app icons? In SBSettings in Hide Icon they're all turned to "on" and my restrictions are disabled too.
edit: Removed the package from Cydia and everything came back...

Something really weird happened, I don't know when cuz I noticed just now. All the icons got completely screwed up. I don't mean they got unorganized, I mean that they don't match the app name. Underneath the AIM icon it says Trism (touching the icon launches Trism), Myst icon is actually Frenzic, Up There icon is actually Facebook, etc.

edit- guys this isnt a problem with the jailbreak method. You will have the same problems if you use quickpwn. This is a problem with the developers of these cydia apps not updating them to work with 3.0

However, 5 icon rows and collumns don't work.

Hm I was mistaken for something else then. Winterboard indeed works.
The only things I needed was Categories, SBSettings, and Winterboard to make me happy. They all seem to work.

If you are downloading content for Winterboard you need to open Winterboard and select\tick which content you want to display. Also sometimes the order of items in the list can prevent selected items from displaying for example if you have a simple themed battery icon listed below a full theme that also includes a battery icon the full theme battery will be used. If you want to use the single battery icon you need to drag it up the list so it is above the full theme.

Everything's working fine for me. The only two things I can't use are Lockdown and five column springboard. Other then that, it's all good.

3.0 wasn't really worth all that hassle though.

EDIT: One problem I've come across is my background is always black. When I run a certain theme, the icons, battery, and whatever else will change, but the background never changes from black.

i couldnt on itunes since there was an error message everytime and the ipod couldnt be read

but then i put it in DFU mode and now im back to the 2.2.1 jailbreak

I just gave up and went back to unjailbroken 3.0. The Cydia apps that I wanted didn't work anyway. but how'd you restore to 2.2.1? I got an error message every time when trying to restore to any firmware other than 3.0

Did u jailbreak an iPhone? U can't down grade on a iPhone

All I had to do was dfu my iPod and then run quickfreedom to jailbreak it again and then shift restored custom 221 (2.2.1)

My jailbreak worked flawlessly (As far as what I use for Cydia apps). I wasted my time trying to do a backup before the jailbreak and it got stuck, so I was like "bleh" and canceled, then went and jailbroke my iPod.

All I did was go to youtube, and found a working 3.0 OS. But then after some failures, I had to restore, and Itunes automatically downloaded 3.0 for me because it thought I had bought it. =P

Now on a more serious note...WTF? I downloaded SBS Settings off cydia, then after installing, the screen just went black. I did a hard reset, and after the apple logo loads, the screen is still black >_> After I synced all my apps and music and everything, will I have to restore yet AGAIN? O.o

Um, actually jailbreaking is not part of Apple's job, and it's not their job to make it work either; and it's not designed for that purpose (it just so happens that it can be done). It's basically "do at your own risk". So there's really no one to blame but people who choose to jailbreak their iDevice. (I have a jailbroken ipod 2g 2.whatever, I just don't blame them)
