That's stupid and it is also common. It's like a Me too! post from the days of usenet. Can't quotes be killed down to 200 words? Or can mods nuke all such posts?

What are you talking about? That quote was totally necessary.

I would have had NO idea what the guy was talking about had I not seen the quote.

Also, top-posting is evil and must be destroyed.

I'm an huge proponent of quotes. I quote all the time, but after reading the quote, I'd have to agree that quoting the starting thread post wasn't necessary to give a response.

What also need improving on quotes is getting an email when someone quoted you so you can respond to the person who quoted you.

Aw, the little box only showed "Please kill(or cripple)...." What a bummer.

I know, you'd expect something a lot more interesting would be the topic...

I usually live by the rule that I won't quote somebody's post if I'm going to be the reply directly below it. But it can be annoying if someone responds to someones post like a couple pages later in the thread, but didn't quote the original post, so it's just some abstract comment that's out there that might not even make any sense. Quotes are alright, I don't want to cripple them or anything. Maybe we just need to educate people on how to edit somebody's quote, so that you're not quoting their ENTIRE post in yours if you don't need to. But I can see sometimes that people quoting other people does get out of hand :\

Yeah what the f*ck they are just quotes. I don't even understand what the big deal is. Why do we need to get rid of them, half the time I need them to respond since I am not always directly posting underneath the person I am responding to.
