View Full Version : Numeric Battery Percentage Meter for 3Gs only?

Does anyone have a clue as to why (WHY!) Apple would test the battery percentage meter in the OS 3.0 betas, then remove it only to allow it for the iPhone 3Gs (and probably the next gen iTouch)? This is something so minor but helpful that it should be implemented on all iDevices.
Don't tell me Apple couldn't figure out how to accurately show the battery percentage on the older devices....

Well since we are in the jailbreak section of the site.....
Anyone can get the percentage sign next to their battery indicator with SBSettings on 3.0
But yeah I don't know why it didn't come standard with older devices for non-jailbroken people too.

Zincous, I am aware of that. I just find it a little crazy that something as small but useful as a battery percentage meter across all the iDevices would be given to 3Gs owners only. I am sure the jailbreak community will expose the feature, just don't understand why Apple won't allow it across all of their devices.
I guess the same can be said for the Voice Control but I can see why that was done, to get people to buy the 3Gs as an "exclusive" feature to that device.

My wife's iPhone 3G isn't jailbroken, and her phone is showing the battery and the percentage side-by-side. She upgraded to 3.0 last night.

Did she herself buy it brand new and never ever jailbrake it ever?
Or could she possibly gotten a replacement from Apple, or a refurbished one at some point that could have previously been jailbroken without her knowing?
Because a restore doesn't get rid of the percentage sign if/when you upgrade to 3.0

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. Yes, her iPhone was jailbroken before with 2.2.1. She decided not to jailbreak 3.0 just yet.
