i have completed the walkthrough to fullfill the old man's aquarium, here's the list requirement below to catch a fish in order to move to the next level.

i won every trophy for Big Catch & Big Fish before the 1.2 update and yes, you'll have to do it again in order to get the powerup.

if you want to know if you have the powerup, it shows up on the game screen - see the picture below and see the "icons" at the bottom left corner...
- the green reel represents a stronger line
- the golden lure charm represents capable of catching monster fish easily.
- the red fishing rod represents playing in Extreme mode. (Normal mode shows black rod)

use the Lure... after you cast a line to 210 feet, reel in slowly... until it bites.

You can find tuna in Blue Deeps but I also wonder with what bait, I've tested them all and have found that no one is really reliable when it comes to catching tuna.

use Ragworm and don't cast too far - go 150 feet or less... you may catch a Sailfish sometimes, or a Sea Bass.. but around there, i caught a lot of Yellowfin Tuna.

Shiny Night - it's the same lake where Lake Shiny is but at nighttime.

Wow. The fish at Night Fishing (original name, Freeverse) are really hard. Not as bad as sea fishing, but a good pike atleast.

the name "Night Fishing" shows up when you select from the map.

the name "Shiny Night" shows up when you look at the Big Catch or Big Fish rankings.

all of other places names matches the same for their rankings - i don't know why this bonus stage is different... anyway, i like "Shiny Night" cuz it sounds better ;)

I'm having a lot of trouble getting two 600+lb swordfish in, my line gets to like 600ft and then it snaps so easily.

That'd be Blue Deeps, but all the ones that I get are like 300-450. I caught a massive 700lb. Blue Marlin along time ago. And I don't have xTreme mode on Blue Deeps, so yea. The rest of the objectives, except the 600lb. Swordfish, seem easy enough. I suppose that to win the xTreme Waves of Doom, you'd have to catch the monster Swordfish.

You unlock extreme mode for each area by winning a tournament against the CPU there.

i believe if you win every trophy in all 6 locations for Big Catch and Big Fish tournaments, this will unlock the Extreme mode. but i can't say for sure because i won all of the trophies before upgrading to 1.2 version so i already have the Extreme mode on map after i downloaded the new patch.

most of the Blue Marlins in Blue Deeps in Extreme mode are usually 500 to 800lbs, which makes it easier to fish a pair of Blue Marlins to win...

Make sure you're playing it in normal and not extreme mode.

Im pretty sure Ive completed the Riverside Big Fish Trophy challenge but when I talk to the old man, this is what he says:

"Some of the bigger fish are actually in the middle of the river, so don't always cast so far."

Normally, I'm pretty good at fishing, but do you have any tips to keep the line from breaking? I had to let it out to 800 ft. once, but it suddenly jerked and snapped. Could that have been the monster Swordfish? Or do you have any tips?

i believe there are no monster fish in Extreme mode - i got all of the monster fish in Normal mode because i never caught one in Extreme mode. believe me, i've played this game a LOT (both Normal and Extreme) so the chances of catching monster fish are easier in Normal mode.

if the Old Man asks you to find 2 Yellowfin Tuna, you have completed level 12. if not, you didn't win the Big Fish tournament.

to catch the Smiling Inigo.. try letting go of the reel on and off until it reaches 700-800 feet. then reel in slowly... do not hurry to catch the fish, let the fish play with you until the strength is decreasing.. sometimes i reel in slowly and let it go again to make the fish get tired quicker. when the fish strength bar reaches around in the middle, try and reel in slowly as possible - let go of the reel quickly if it reaches to the max for the line's strength, then hold the reel. wait until the fish stops fighting... reel in slowly... repeat this process - but be warned - when you go 200 feet or less, sometimes the fish will go crazy.. i had to let it go again and went back around to 450 feet (sigh) but the fish's strength was low so i could reel it back in easily than before.

i also have the powerups (line strength and golden lure charm) and this probably increases the chance of catching any monster fish. i haven't seen anyone here posting about their accomplishment for catching Smiling Inigo so i wish you lots of luck :)

use the Squid and cast to 210 feet... that's about it. if you see either Sailfish or Blue Marlin jumping out of the water, try and snap the line on purpose because there is no point of catching them :)

Is anybody else an absolute master at casting maximum? Nobody else seems to be able to consistently cast 30, 60, 120, or 210 ft. on the individual levels every single time.

Cast at 75 ft. and use bait fish. If you're halfway competent, you should be able to reel in at least 7 pike.

Am I the only one who can't control the lenght of the cast? In the old pond it's always 25, deep blue 105 and riverside 45 etc... Any1 else have this problem!

It's not about brute strength, but a fluid motion. You only have to move the phone about 6 inches. Pull it back toward you, then push it forward at about the same speed. Your cast should take 1 to 2 seconds.

At no point should you need to cast so hard you feel you phone could even possibly fly out of your hand.

Yes. It is a motion hard to describe, but completely natural. Working on controlling the distance. I beat all of the missions and have the first 3 boss fish. Please update with more fish..!!!!

Hello, I'm stuck in Quest Mode. I can't get past the Old Pond Big Catch tourney. I've won the tournament in Normal and Xtreme mode and the old man still keeps saying "Still haven't won that Old Pond Big Catch trophy blah blah blah". What's the deal? If I'm playing in Quest Mode and he tells me to win a tournament, do I have to exit out to the main screen and go to "New Game>Big Catch Tournament" or should it make the tournament available to play within the quest mode?

However, when I go to my album/aquarium and view my trophies, the trophy that is above the CARP was the wavers of doom trophy! And above the Swordfish was the Riverside big fish tournement trophy! There are 12 trophies, 12 leaderboards and 27 fish, so they're not meant to line up in the album.

For the quest item you're on, you have to win the Waves of Doom Big Fish tournament on eXtreme mode (not normal). It doesn't matter if you've won it before, he's only impressed if you do something after he asks you :)

The OGITL suggests Swordfish as they're the biggest fish you can normally catch.

Did you win it in normal, not eXtreme mode? You have to win the normal one.

You have to exit back through the main menu to get to the tournament (otherwise you just go fishing), Select New Game, Big Catch, VS CPU and select the Old Pond, making sure it's not in eXtreme mode. Then win :)

No, you can win at 3,5 or 10 mins. You've also got an option to reset the quest so you don't lose your current fish scores.

I simply cannot win the Big Catch tourny on Waves of Doom. CPU gets at least one if not 2 600+lb swordfish and even on the 5 minute option, I cannot land one. I get to the quackophone but I can't seem to change rods (figure the green one for bigger fish would help).

Any suggestions/help with changing rods so I have a snowball's chance on this tourny?

Bones, I've also caught all but Inigo, Marlin and Carpo. Hope someone posts a reply soon.

I've mentioned this over at Freeverse Forums as well. In Big Catch tournys, it is simply cheating for the CPU to be able to continue to reel in fish after time has expired. I understand being able to complete whatever cast you're on (an improvement from previous version of game I hear), and it'd be OK if the CPU could only complete its last cast, but time and time again while I'm fighting some beasty to try to catch up, I see the CPU's weight total go up several times after time has expired. That means multiple casts after time has expired. With how long it takes to land big swordfish off Waves of Doom, it's simply not fair to be given one cast to finish while the CPU is able to cast again and again. I get that it's a challenge to finish the tournament, but come on!

Why is it cheating? It took me almost 10 mins to reel in a huge swordfish and i was in a 3 min game, so if we can continue after the hooter then the CPU should be able to too. Just keep trying, you'll eventually win. Sometimes the CPU catches a >1000lb monster, however sometimes it catches nothing, it's just a matter of time and luck.

I am having difficulty catching the 2 180+ lb wahoos at blue deeps. I have tried every bait at seemingly every length range and have only caught 170 lb wahoos (about 20 of them) am I doing something wrong? None of the other levels took nearly this long to complete.

We like to keep them a bit of a secret for people to work out. The first four just make things a little tougher for the expert players and the four striped ones give slight bonuses to certain aspects either in how easy it is to cast, the size of fish or how quickly they bite.

I have got another update planned. Not immediately, but definitely fun :)

1st. Try casting more smoother, not too fast and strongly.
2nd. The green bottle, you won from the old fisherman for doing his tasks. It makes your line stronger and harder to break.

I went to breakwater and used ragworm and i would cast around 100 feet and i caught mullets every time.

We decided not to put sharks in specifically because they're so endangered, but we are looking into how some marine research projects are live catching sharks, tagging them with radio transponders and releasing them to monitor their migration. They might form the basis of a future update at some point.

Only reel in when the "Fish Strength" isn't shaking. When it is shaking, just put your finger on the reel to hold it.

You can reset the quest (without resetting what fish you've caught) with the Reset Quest button in the game options. To reset everything simply delete and re-install the game.

whitecruiser: the 1.3 update adds the Fish Net internet play mode. The story only progresses as you catch the fish or wins the tournaments the OMiTL requests.

Have you won the Riverside Big Fish trophy vs the CPU (not the Big Catch trophy)? Also make sure you don't pause mid competition.

Make sure you win it vs CPU in normal mode (not eXtreme) and don't pause the game in the middle of the competition.

Here is the list of all of the named fish. This is from gkc on Freeverse forums. I hope it helps. Also, I am not sure if you know it but you always want to be fishing in extreme mode. Your fish always weighs more there. Lastly, every time you catch a named fish it's weight will increase each time. I personally have old mog at 100 pounds also and I plan on bringing that up quite a bit more. I hope you have fun. Feel free to add me to plus+.

Alright, I have finished the Old Man Quest and I have purchased Private Beach and all. But when I click the Lighthouse twice and 'activate' it's search light, it discovers the duck. However, when I tap it, it only allows me to tap it once.Yes I have turned tutorial off, by the way. However, you state that it can be done twice? If so, please inform; if not, it still activates colored rods, correct?

Edit: Hmm.. It seems to have 'reset' my quest as a result of me clicking the duck. Also it seems to have reset my eXtreme mode. Is this normal? D:

I've been playing for about 3 days. Mostly Quest mode where I've made it to #23. Since I've mastered the 210 ft cast and feel pretty confident that I can land a bigger fish than the CPU in the Waves of Doom tourney, which I lost miserably in the past, I give it a go...

First cast, I've got a monster and I know it. Time runs out and the CPU has a 790 pounder landed, but I'm sure I've got it beat. I just have to land it. For a good 10 minutes I'm patiently reeling and letting the line go, reeling and letting the line go, reeling and letting the line go... hoping that this bastard will give in and let me at least get it in the 400 ft range. It's strength is at a minimum and I'm feeling pretty confident that if I can just keep my very tired finger going I'll make it. No such luck. It eventually broke my fooking line.

That's a subset of Murphy's law. When you need to hook a piece of junk the fish are all biting. In fact, the game does some sneakiness to combat that and increases the chance you'll hook junk when it's your current quest item. One tactic is to cast to minimum distance and reel in instantly as soon as you hook anything. If it's a fish you'll break the line and lose it, no loss. If it's seaweed or coral it'll reel in quickly.

You have to be in the right mode(extreme or normal). For wahoo use bait fish in blue deeps on normal mode. For swordfish use squid @ waves of doom in normal mode(you have to cast the line max @ about 210 for swordfish).

They fight to the end. The key is patience. Once they bite if you can get a quick 2 reels to get them under 210ft that helps. They only jump when they are under 210ft. When they jump you can get a quick 2 or 3 winds of the reel.If not you have to let them run and take your time reeling. you have to give them the drag they need. whenever the line tension goes up let the drag out. I've had them out as far as 630 ft and I've gotten them in. Hope I explained it right.

Help! I've read this whole thread a few times and tried everything I could..

hell I haven't seen a marlin in a long time! I get only sail/other fail fish...

Used every type of bait for 10+ 210ft casts and haven't had one yet..

I haven't seen this posted don't know if it has been. Ok when you land a big fish you can change locations to the old pond and then just cast and reel in and the same fish will be on the line.

You don't need all the trophies for big fish and big catch to unlock extreme mode. I'm stuck on the big fish tournament on both the regular and extreme deep blue. It always seems to happen where the CPU will at the last second pull in a 500 lb+ fish and sailfish aren't that big and marlin are freaking IMPOSSIBLE to catch! I did catch the 2 500 lb+ marlins for the old man though.

Do I need to be connected to wifi to be able to download the private beach level? It's showing in my trophy section that I'm missing a trophy for what I presume to be the private beach level and several fish I haven't been able to catch at all (I have all the boss fish). Yet when I go to the village shop and click on download for the private beach it doesn't work.

tbh, it's dead easy to catch big marlin. i caught a 1100 lb on xtreme but u can catch them up to about 700 without. If you are having trouble, go on to big catch competition and cast as far as you can. then, reel in a tiny bit, like one foot, and then stop reeling for about 3 seconds. a fish will defo bite immediately, but that only works with "food" baits, not lures or spinners. But if you follow that method you can catch marlin, easily win any big catch competition, and after winning that you can catch marlin on extreme which will always be over 500 lb

The max cast distance at the Old Pond is 30ft anyway :) The named fish there are generally at the 30ft distance but they'll only bite infrequently, so it's a case of making sure you've got the right bait and keeping fishing.

Bit of a mixed bag there as the questions are split across Flick Fishing and Flick Fishing Free which have different features, but here goes :)

1. Fishing contests are only in Flick Fishing (Flick Fishing Free focuses entirely on catching fish, the quest and collections). Select New Game, Tournament and then pick your opponent (another human on the same iPhone, the CPU or another human over a bluetooth connection).

2. eXtreme mode is only available in Flick Fishing too. When you're on the map, the eXtreme mode button is at the top right of the screen. When you select it you'll only be able to fish in areas where you've beaten the CPU in a tournament.

3.Goblets (along with all the new collectibles) are only in Flick Fishing Free. They're a relatively rare item in most of the freshwater locations.

4. The lump of coral is one of the 4 non fish items that are in Flick Fishing but also in Flick Fishing Free. It's just scenery for your aquarium ;)

I just caught Hoff off of Breakwater using Ragworms and i casted just under 120 ft. I think it was right at 116 or 118 ft. good luck.

I really think you should add collectibles to flick fishing.. After all, isn't the paid version supposed to be the full version?

kolokoy32: if you've only got the reset tutorial option then you're playing Flick Fishing Free (the big telltale is that it has the Collections button on the main menu) so there's no secret pond in that one.

The Plus+ button is for access to your Plus+ account if you have one (or to create one if you don't). If you're logged in to Plus+ you can get awards, leaderboards and more with all the Plus+ enabled games (some of the ngmoco games can only be played while logged into Plus+ too).

Coolbeans31: Adding collections to the paid version of Flick Fishing is in the works. There's an update going through Apple approval at the moment that adds the retina display and fast switching support and we'll be doing another with more options later on. Essentially we're using Flick Fishing Free as a bit of a test bed for some new features ;)

at the Private Beach, using Squid for best results.

also fish there for Barracuda (bait fish) and the ultra rare OGITL Bobblehead.

1) Select New Game
2) Select Go Fishing (Make Sure Tutorial Mode is OFF)
3) Double Tap the Light House
4) Double Tap the Hidden Duck When it Appears
5) Let all the Ducks get in Line
6) To get the rod of your choice tap that duck 5 times
7) Hit Pause then Exit Game
8) Go Fishing Again in Xtreme Mode and Enjoy your New Rod

90 feet pluss 5% should not be 90 feet.
I find this boost useless.

+5% up to the maximum cast distance for each area. It helps you get to that distance if you're tending to cast short.

Zwilink I'm having lot of trouble with big red got gums bob and mob in an hour but I've been casting and catching stuff for 2 hrs no big red? It's been like 4actually

Big Red's pretty tough, so make sure you've got the Line Oil and Golden Lure power ups from the Old Guy In The Lighthouse quest and any other relevant line strengthening rods/gizmos (depending on which version of the game you're playing).

You'll need to cast to max distance (120ft) with Bait Fish as bait. As with all the other named fish he's rare, but this should give you a good chance of hooking him.

Hey everybody I'm stuck trying to catch the swordfish for the old man. He says use squid and I've tried everything I feel. Someone please tell me how I can catch this swordfish over 500 pounds to move on to the next challenge. Thanks!

This game is my favorite fishing game, but you should make it so if you pay to fish at a place you can still go back later the same day so you don't have to pay again. And how do I unlock new gear?

I have the paid version but cannot get the hidden rods as I to have the problem with only being able to reset tutorials not turn them off. Why is this??
