ZeniMax Acquires id Software

Here I was checking if there were any updates for either of the Doom games coming to the iPhone at http://www.idsoftware.com/ and right there on the top was this.

Personally I see only good things from this. id Software gets to stay id and has support and time to do what they want while not having to deal with EA or Activision for publishing... (after Rage and Wolfenstein that is)

Plus even though they won't be working together the potential of any cross over between id and Bethesda would be sweet :)

Is it just me or is id barely a speck on the gaming world anymore. Rage is becoming a modern case of DNF-itis and everything they've done lately has been rehashes of old IP. id had the momentum to be where Valve is today but instead they're being bought.
