Just two quick questions;

What is winRAR and how is it applied to redsn0w?

If I download the 3.0 firmware from somewhere other than iTunes or Apple, and put the ipsw on my desktop, will I still keep all my apps, songs, etc.

All help is appreciated!

PS a link to a good tutorial would also be helpful :)

WinRAR is just this thing that unzips folders...
So if you download redsnow it's in a Zip folder. You need WinRAR to unzip it and get all the folders/files.

3.0 Firmware doesn't contain your apps, songs, etc. It's just the firmware period. So don't worry about that.
