Hey, I've just been listening to lots of music lately. I'm wondering who your favorite artists are and what types of music you like :)
Personally, I love rock but there is also some rap I am into.
Top five favorite musical artists:
1. Linkin Park (this band sounds awesome live!)
2. Metallica
3. Jay-Z (this guy is awesome with Linkin Park!)
4. Muse
5. Rise Against
Top five songs:
1. Bleed it Out - Linkin Park
2. The Day That Never Comes - Metallica
3. New Born - Muse
4. The Unforgiven III - Metallica
5. Dirt Off Your Shoulder / Lying From You - Jay-Z & Linkin Park
Anyway, I'd just like to see how many people will participate and if there are any people who like the same type of music as me. Please use the poll above - I'd like to see how many votes we can get and for which genres.
Feel free to post your top 5 artists/bands and songs as well. :)

Yeah sorry about forgetting about some of the other genres of music in the poll. I thought of metal right after I had already started the thread.
Does anyone know if there is a way to add poll options?

Thanks dude. Those screams are not good, they were actually done by friends because at the time my yelling style was a bit different. now'a'days I know a bit more about singing/screaming without destroying my voice so I handle most of it. and I've improved quite a bit as a vocalist as those are our first recordings.
I handle lead guitar and vocals. at the time of those demos we were still a 3 piece. I've since added a great bass player, and moved my old bass player to rhythm guitar. it really makes us sound full, as the rhythm doesn't just drop out when I solo anymore.
now'a'days I can't even listen to those old demos. we've improved so much on all fronts that they're just going to drive me nuts until we can get our record out. but those are basically just live recordings that we did after a month together; they were really just meant to give an idea, and get a foot in some doors.
we're slated to record in '09 with Paul Miner who's produced records for Death by Stereo, Thrice, Atreyu, and more. I'm so excited to get to work I can't stand it. It's gonna blow that old stuff out of the water.

Hey dude, you don't have to be rude about it. We all have our opinions and I like them both a lot. Linkin Park is one of the few bands that sound awesome live. I know they're completely different types of music but I don't care, I love 'em!
I used to be obsessed with rap back about 5 years but since then I've grown on rock. Jay-Z is great in my opinion and especially when he does his songs with Linkin Park.
Anyway, one of the things I love about LP is that I can play their songs on the piano. It doesn't sound so great if you try playing the piano to a rap. :P I'm looking forward to buying an acoustic guitar soon, so hopefully I can use that to play some other rock songs that I like but for now LP sounds great on the piano :)

My favorite though is the collaboration with Calexico, but Women King holds a special place in my heart, it was first Iron and Wine record.

^ Yeah, the whole "terrible taste in music" was a joke. We all have different tastes and makes no sense to insult any one for liking a particular sound. But, yeah, I was a little confused as to the whole Metallica and Linkin Park thang. Seems rather contradictive but who cares. I actually listen to some metal from time to time even though I'm an old-school rap kind of guy...

There are guitars, drums and vocals in it. It's rock.
They use rap and mix it up a little sometimes but it's still rock. (Jay-Z/Linkin Park)

I don't like LP, which is why I said they should put some REAL music into the movie i.e. they used one of LP's songs last time. Transformers is awesome. Steven TheBeef is annoying but Megan Fox is HOT! so it makes up for it. Also, robots are cool...Hulk sucks btw, Thor can whoop his ass any time...
