Can't really decide. I like the R to clarify that it's Ravensword but it looks a bit odd when there's only the guy's head. I'd like to see some body, you know :D

when its on the phone it doesnt look so great with the R, the one with the sword looks the best in my opinion... the R almost makes him look like a cyborg! but I'm happy to get opinions about it

yeah I might just play around with that layout - if I can get it to stand out enough in a small icon it just might work.

Off the bat I would say that you'd have to darken the drop shadow on the R to make it pop at the smaller size... Anyway, glad to be of help.

Yeah, the right side of the R integrates better with the contours of the face. You're on the right track, there.

I don't like any of them. Never underestimate what a good icon can do. Spend some time creating one from from scratch. Otherwise everything is looking fabulous!

I think it would look kewl with just the "R" by itself, maybe with a darker background. Maybe even add in a fancy "S" with that "R". Unless RavenSword is all one word, which appears to be the case.

Personally I like the first one (with the sword) best.
The one with the R seems a Star Trek Borg to me, nothing to do with a fantasy setting, that imho should be used (maybe different colors for the steel effect and darker colours for the face could help).

Yes I was referring to the 'original R' one, this one looks better but considering how small in an iPhone icon, we should see if it's ok near others icons.
That's nothing worse imho that a 'non standard Apple' icon design because, even if wonderful, it looks ugly on tge phone near the others.
Ie, I do not see the usual 'shine effect'.

This... This I like, it could use a shine effect though. If I enjoy this game enough it could make it into my dock so I'd prefer it to look nice.

It's not a misspelling since all of the letters are there and in the correct order. And there are no extra ones.
But anyway, what else will be in this game? So there is a six hour main story, with a lot of side quests and minigames that you can still play after the game is over, right? And you can ride a horse, correct?
Sounds like a winner to me.

What's going on here? I've never seen anyone make such a harsh judgement on a game based on wrong capitalization probably due to a spell checker on a website. It has nothing to do with the quality of the game and it's really minor.
As always, I'm still patiently looking foreward to a great game. Anybody have any suggestions on what free/cheap games to play to kill somt time while I'm waiting for ravensword. I would reccomend tap quest it's free and has new quests added every week. It should help you hold out.

Well, sorry if it's off subject but I really enjoy Elven chronicles. Is a little pricy at 4$ but they say it's on sale, so...what choice do I have. I'll keep me busy until this game comes out.

I bought it too. My son played it a little and he said he liked it, but did have a crash and forgot to save... Reminds me of the old school rpg's on the SNES...

IMO, the game should be priced in the $4.99-$9.99 price range. It's definitely worth it. If you release the game at a really cheap price, people will expect to to be a so-so game. Since Ravensword seems to be on par with Dungeon Hunter, I'd release it at that price. Gameloft doesn't drop their prices often, and neither should you.

Heck yeah. That's why we do what we do.. to make the kinds of games we want to play ;) And it's not easy.. I have tremendous respect for an Indie team that can pull this stuff off. I'd be surprised if I am not one of the first to buy it, play it, and leave a review.

I think that the traditional $10 premium price tag is about right.
Support the devs, then they will be able to afford the server costs of the multiplayer addition. If they can already afford it, then they can use that money to make the game even better.

Look, if you had to buy a used, old RPG game on the PSP, it would still cost $9.99. IMO $4.99 is fair as a "sale" price for the first day, then $6.99 like Gameloft would be the way to go. :D

The problem with opening day sales is it gives consumers the idea that if they wait long enough that that certain game will go on sale again while hurting that game's sales, effecting the App Store as a whole(consumers will just wait for games to go on sale), and preventing any major gaming companies from thinking the App Store as profitable Market therefore not taking the Igaming Market seriously. That's why I hope Chinatown wars costs more than the current premium price and makes a good profit hopefully in turn more brand name gaming companies will come to the Iphone but thats just me.
Now to Ravensword, the game's price would perfect around 6.99 to 9.99
but I would definitely pay more if its as good as its looking right now;).

If you want this game so badly then save up. It wouldn't take much. Personally, I think $13.99 (US$10) is well worth it. The devs shouldn't have to lower the price just for you. They lose one customer. US$5. Big Deal.
If you think US$8 is a lot, get a PSP or a DS.
Anyway, I can't wait to have this game sitting on my iPod. Good thing for Chillingo - they'll finally have a game which I like (probably love)!

The only problem is that almost nobody will buy it thinking that the price is simply ridiculous. After a major new game comes out priced like that, and other top quality games start following, the app store can become a better place for everybody.

Hey, guys, I haven't read through the 90 some pages of comments on the forum about suggestions, but I'd personally like to see some helpful beast men, or monsters somewhere. not alot of games take the risk of trying it - but I think it breaks up the monotony of fantasy games when you stumble into a room, and find yourself surrounded by Werewolves, only to find out that they're out to kill the same dark lord that you are (for some reason or another)
another cool thing to play around with is maybe some sort of transformations.
Sort of alter your character's physical or mental abilities (with outward changes) like perhaps becoming half ogre somehow, and you get beefier, a bit hairier all around and have a more ogreish face, or if you become a merman, maybe have a bluish tint to your skin, and some fins or something, and be able to swim better... if you understand what I mean
also, since oblivion was mentioned, if there's going to be character creation, and the ability to pick from multiple races - how about something different from the typical Elf, Dwarf, GNome and so on. maybe adding something new, like a golem of some type, beast men, or something of the like.
and at very least the ability to choose between a male or female character. lady gamers like to be able to play lady characters... as do some men.

I already stated the female thing and character creation, those wont be added unitl an expansion... I wanted it first release so that I wouldnt have to go through everything again with the new character but... I dunno. Im still going to get the game but no character customization just makes the game... meh... Your a guy whos a crawler... thats about it, now if I had customization, and magic(I think they said theyre adding it now, they didnt want to first release but I think they said they will now, so Im not sure), I would make an awesome witch bi*ch who could poison like a mofo...

When we start seeing multimillion dollar game budgets we may see prices like those, but for now its not too likely. Perhaps, when there are many, many more iPhone/iPod Touch users with the 3d gfx chip in them we will see those kinds of games.
Personally after 30+ years of gaming I am more happy with the budget Indie gaming on the iPod Touch then mega budget titles on the 360/PS3/Wii/DS/PSP. When we start seeing large scale sales of titles in that price range the Indie devs will be crushed by the EAs of tha gaming world so lets enjoy what we have right now.

It uses PhysX. Alot of the animations have been redone.

In all seriousness, I know that it was possible to break into houses in Oblivion; I just hope that Josh and Co. use the device's more limited resources to expand the heroic aspects of the game (rather than the anti-social ones).

i would like to know this also, being able to freely move the camera is an important aspect. it's one of the 2~ things that lets down crusade of destiny (the other being the movement controls)
i don't want to have to stop and go first person to look around, this game has a beautiful environment and i'd like to be able to appreciate it fully.

alright - I'll recap - before we were going to release in September, but we got hooked up with a publisher and we decided to polish the game a little more.
Right now we are on track for submission October 15th on the App store, which is 11 days away.

please no. nobody wants to be playing an rpg and tilting your machine around to look, it's just not fun. why not touch and drag on the screen? it's just so much more practical.

I don't see the problem if it's just up and down -- most looking around will be done by turning left and right with the virtual joystick. Obviously, it would help to have an adjustable sensitivity setting.

The reason we did it
is so you could concentrate on attacking with your right thumb instead of having to be controlling look up and down and attacking at the same time with the same finger. You could easily lose a battle if trying to adjust your up and down
at the same time - as some creatures are alot larger or smaller than you are.

I gotta agree with... er.. that guy o3o; touching and dragging on the screen should at least be an option - especially for people like me who don't play their game with the iPod level to our faces. I hold mine down like a gameboy or PSP... so tilting would be kinda bad

the calibrate button allows you to have the tilt set to anything you want, and you can recalibrate as you play. so you don't have to worry about having it level to your face or anything else.
Its that button in the top right, you can hit it whenever you move around, or get out of your chair. The tilt is pretty subtle, its nice and smooth.

Gotta agree with this. Gameloft has the camera dragging down perfectly. I suggest checking out Modern Combat: Sandstorm to see what this is about.
Otherwise, the game is looking pretty good.

I totally understand =] It could be a great update feature, however. I guess we will have to see how the tilting works before further scrutiny.

damn, I was hoping there was a bit more time to change things, but I'm REALLY anxious to play it x3 you guys should have a half price release day sale so us broke people can afford it better ;D

Is there no strafing?? hope there is, I was hoping this would have a drag to look feature also. That way i can dodge stuff and be able to quickly look. Im pretty sure most people drag with their thumb when they play MC:S but I drag with my pointer and shoot with my thumb. A lot easier, and allows you to see more of the screen.

As long as it doesn't require me to tilt so much that I look like an idiot on the bus or on the train, it should be alright but I am wary of any game that uses tilt control for anything. :) I prefer drag-to-look. It's the way light sometimes hits the screen, when one is on a crowded bus or train, one doesn't have the freedom to move to a place with more ideal lighting; and so when I have to tilt the device, sometimes I can no longer see what's going on on it properly.

bare in mind that this means moving left and right on the gamepad is going to move the camera constantly as well, which was one of the major complaints about crusade of destiny. don't get me wrong, i am really excited about this game, but hearing this has put a massive downer on the game for me, free moving open worlds means nothing if the controls are this annoying. i want to be able to move my character without moving the camera all over the place. think about it this way: you are going to have to face your enemies all the time just to see them, no strafing, no running around them with your camera focussed on them, but instead permanently facing forward.
i'm sorry josh, i know it's not prudent to down a control scheme i've not tried before, but it sounds like you guys went out of your way to create something ineffective, when controls for these kinds of games are a make or break deal. for example, ask the community for a show of hands who would like to be able to see the front of their character, something this control scheme will not allow, and i bet you'll see a lot of discussion over it.
I would strongly suggest that for an update you allow for proper camera control, as it's a pretty vital part of getting involved with your character, people don't want to have to go to a menu just to look at how cool their character is. also, you can remove another button from your screen, allowing people to see more of the beautiful environment you guys created.

There's no big budget for the website or for anything else, its whatever we can get done in the amount of time we have. That being said, I will update the site when the game is submitted, there will be plenty of free time then. I do appreciate the criticism though.

Noah, you seem to conflating two different things: the quality of the Ravencroft website and the quality of the game itself. I, for one, would rather have the developers focus on getting the game right than on dotting "i"s and crossing the "t"s on the website. A small team has to make choices, and even though it would be great if both aspects of the project could move forward in tandem, it may very well not be possible.
If the game is a success (which I'm pretty sure it will be), then perhaps they can hire a dedicated web staff that will at least get rid of the table/sliced nightmare they have right now and create a proper standards compliant site (and no, I do not have an opinion about such things ;)) It would be great if they could start they own forums and make something of a Ravencroft community. At the moment, though, I'd rather have them keep the eye on the price: a polished, well designed game experience.

The website is fine. It's reasonably attractive and offers plenty of screens and information about the game. Amazing that some people care so much about something so trivial as 'iPhone vs. IPhone'. If that little mistake factors at all in your decision to buy the game, there's not much the devs can do to help you. I wonder what percentage of app store shoppers even visit a game's website. I rarely do (there's usually plenty of info in the app store), but I think the overwhelming majority of people visiting the Ravensword site will be satisfied with the content. Although it could probably be optimized better for search engine returns.
I'm glad to hear the developers are focusing on the actual game - that's what counts. I'm also glad they aren't spending too much time caving to the demands of people whose grandiose and unrealistic vision of what this game should be almost ensures they will never be happy with the final product anyway.
