It's a really close match, and if you're an average gamer, they'll look all the same to you. Right now my brother is yelling about how awesome Luxor is, and I must agree with him. Don't know why, it's just the feeling I guess.

Atlantis>Luxor>Stoneloops
Atlantis and Luxor are the only contenders really, but I give Atlantis the edge due to the fact it has the "puzzles" to break... when I play Luxor it feels almost as though I have nothing to do, whereas ASP you're tacking the moving balls but also trying to free up some time to destroy the puzzles and stop the waves coming, the whole multitasking thing really gives it a chaotic edge. Plus I just don't dig the Luxor graphics, they're a bit outdated.

I think the Luxor fans are repping it just for the sake of being Luxor :p A bit like how people claim Super Mario Bros to be the best Mario game, when there's really no reason not to regard Super Mario World as the superior game.

I agree. I think Atlantis has the more polished graphics. I also like the added challenge Atlantis brings to the genre.
Someone should tally the votes (how many 1st place for Luxor, 1st for Atlantis, 2nd for Atlantis, 3rd for Stoneloops etc) and combine them on the first post :P

Haven't played Luxor or Atlantis yet. Stoneloops was fantastic and from the looks of it Atlantis does look better both grafix and gameplay wise. Too bad I missed it at 99cents. But Luxor doesn't look any better than stoneloops. I really doubt I'll be getting it at all. Atlantis, as soon as it's 99cents again. Luxor, don't really think so.

I only have stoneloops. From the screens, i would go for atlantis. It looks much better than luxor. The graphics on luxor really looks bad and i believe looks is important for this type of game.

Yeah this is kind of my stance on it. If I had to say anything more about the other 2 though, Atlantis looks a little better than Luxor just cause of that cool puzzle popper aspect of it. That is kind of a cool idea, but all I need is stoneloops. The game is nice looking, and just about all I need for that genre of gaming. It't not my favourite, but a fine time killer here and there. It does the job, and does it well.

Atlantis wins for me too. Not only does it have more gameplay, more levels, better graphics... it also has by far the best audio. The soundtrack adapts as you play which really clues you in to a 'high tension' level end. I'm also tickled by the power up sound effects - especially the vocoder stuff. Def one to play with headphones on.

I posted this over in the "Luxor is out" thread, but perhaps it is more appropriate over here ....
I had no history with Luxor, Zuma or any other the marble shooter games prior to getting the iPhone and Stoneloops. So, I don't have any nostalgic connection with Luxor. I bought it only because I loved Stoneloops, and wanted a similar game to play.
However, I am finding it waaaaaaay too easy and not enough of a challenge to be even remotely fun. The graphics are nice and the gameplay is smooth, but I am absolutely barreling through this game and have not lost a "life" on a single level yet.
Perhaps this is just because I've played Stoneloops a ton of times and I've developed a skill for this style game. However, I seem to remember Stoneloops really ramping up in the difficulty pretty early on in the game.
For example, the lines of marbles appear to STILL be coming out one at a time in Stage 3 of Luxor. So, until you've destroyed the marbles in the first line, no second line appears. I'm pretty sure that in Stoneloops multiple lines of marbles starting appearing early on in the game.
Now I'm thinking I should have just stuck with Stoneloops and not wasted $3 on Luxor. Unless it gets more difficult soon, I don't see myself playing this game to completion.
Anybody else in the same boat? Does the game ever get more challenging?

That's right ! I think people should compare Atlantis, Luxor and Tumblebugs.
StoneLoops! of Jurassica is out of competition.
First of all, it sold as many copies on iPhone as all 3 other games might try hard to sell together.
Next thing is that StoneLoops was released 3 months ago (very long ago for iPhone market), so it just doesn't look THAT fresh after 60 days in top-10, although it easily competes any of these titles graphics-wise, sound-wise, technically and otherwise.
We also don't like marketing numbers like 70 million gamers on PC for Luxor, or 35 millions for Tumblebugs...
I hope everyone understands that this includes Trial/Lite/Free version downloads, where paid versions are usually around 10% for very very good games. Otherwise if we announce StoneLoops! downloads on iPhone only (Paid + Lite version) that will be quite comparable numbers, considering platform installed base.
P.S. .... StoneLoops2 .. is ... out ...... ... 2009 ... hopefully.

I have to say I'm very impressed with Atlantis - I like the idea of the power ups. I did buy Luxor - I have played it way too many times on PC not to get it, but I don't mind saying that Atlantis is very impressive. Never tried Tumblebug but I'll keep an eye out for it.

While I didn't purchase Luxor, my friend did and I played it at lunch. Stoneloops! completely obliterates it in terms of difficulty. Early on I felt that Stoneloops almost got too hard early on, but just forced me to speed up and change up strategy (I am also colour blind to red's and green's, so that kind of sucks too). I got an appriciation for the difficulty of the game, and began feeling it was more normal than anything.
Untill I played Luxor for the iPhone, and dear god. It was really... just slow paced... and easy lol. I dunno. Stoneloops spoiled me I guess. I think Stoneloops > Luxor but yeah... that's just me too. Luxor looks great, sounds great, feels great, but so does Stoneloops. lol
P.S. .... StoneLoops2 .. is ... out ...... ... 2009 ... hopefully.
Sweet, looking foward to it. Any ideas as to what will be a little different this time around? I am not a huge fan of the bubblepoppers, but Stoneloops is sick.

I like Stoneloops better, even though Luxor has more levels. Plus+ doesn't really do anything in Luxor, just a few achievements and one leaderboard. If you want the novelty of getting closer to having all of the Plus+ apps (which I do), get Luxor. Stoneloops is smoother, and more fun for me. It's your choice.

I did not take the time to search - but there are least 2 other threads that have discussed this...
You should also consider Atlantis Sky Patrol, and Blackbeards Assault as similar types of these games - also having some benefits, and detractions..

Stoneloops. Much better in design and music, and graphics.
Plus Luxor's controls were idiotic.

I agree about Luxor's controls - Shake to change balls, are they kidding - that's just a plain ridiculous use of the accelerometer.
I prefer the "release to shoot" mode - but that is linked to shake to change.
Stoneloops method of changing balls (tap with a second finger) is far superior.
Hopefully Luxor will get an update with more choice of control schemes.

I got Stoneloops! when it went on very cheap sale. I had tried the free version of puzzloops but was not very impressed by it; Stoneloops! appealed more from the outset. Its theme is very nicely done, the graphics are really nice for what they are, and the along-the-bottom shooter works much better imo.
Stoneloops! did get very very repetitive, and I found that I stalled after finishing the first couple of 'worlds'. The difficulty level was kind of all over the place, the hardest levels seemingly tending towards the middle levels in each world. I managed to get all of the trophies except for 'clear bonuses' beyond level 1, after eventually convincing myself to play through all of classic and smash 'n' grab – the clear bonus one is insanely hard given how fast the lines keep coming, even early on in the game.
The screenshots of Luxor don't impress me that much –*the graphics are far less impressive than those of Stoneloops!. I imagine the theme is as convincing though, and the plus+ is a pull imo. How many plus+ achievement points does it offer? Since they updated Rolando 1 to be on plus+ I'm sitting with this annoying plus+ level progress bar, and a total of 4005 points, which irks me a bit ... and I'm not a fan of tower defence ... or fishing for that matter, to fix it with those :).

Most of Luxor's levels are repeats just harder. There are only like 8 different level layouts while all of Stoneloops' levels are unique. Plus Stoneloops has the grab and shoot mode.

The last level of Luxor is the only level that is hard. Unfortunately the only reason it is hard is because of the control limitations. It is still a fun game if you are a fan of the genre but if you had to get only one marble shooter then Stoneloops is your best bet. I'd also consider Atlantis Sky Patrol but not for the $2.99 they are asking.
@RunningMan You must have missed their sale. I got it at 99 cents :) I'll probably play Luxor before I go on and play it though.

Luxor > Atlantis Sky Patrol? Please :D
I like Luxor, don't get me wrong! But in terms of quality and variance in the gameplay I have to Atlantis SP. I think it's got better power-ups and the "locked" balls outside of the track ad a new element that Luxor doesn't even have. And you can really get into a groove with Atlantis - I played through that game twice (second was a speed run).
Both are fun, but Atlantis is better. Just my 2 cents. :D

Does anyone know if Zuma's Revenge (from Popcap) will be coming out for iPhone anytime soon?
It is newly released on Mac and PC. Wow! I think it is better than any of the earlier games in this genre such as Luxor, Stoneloops, Atlantis Sky Patrol, etc. You can download a demo from the Popcap web site.
