Edit: I see it in Itunes but It's still not in my phone's app store. Don't underestimate my laziness EA ;)

ugh, seems like I'm going to have to get it later this week.

I had a friend bring over Spore so I can try it on my macbook... and it doesn't work. Turns out that Spore won't work with any macbook made before late 07!! Something about the drivers for the GMA 950 in osx. It works fine if you run it in bootcamp but who wants to do that?

seems like this is the only way to get my spore fix until I can get a macbook pro

second impression: 10 bucks? hopefully it will build more value as i play it more and advance past level 10/30

trick is, kill early and often, to gain much needed evolutionary points, cause the creatures get nasty the further you advance whether you evolved or not

It's a good game, but nowhere near as good as it is on the PC in terms of customization of your little dude. If they would have had the customization like the PC version it would be pretty flawless.

Of course, at the same time, if it had all the same features, it would be worth the same price as the PC version
What I'm really curious about is how long is this version? Seems like everyone is progressing levels rather quickly (and there are only 30 levels)

So get a US iTMS account - it's not that hard to do. Surely this can't be the first time you've had difficulty getting launch day titles (games, music, movies, software, whatever) ... ? Given how hard it has been at times for me to import stuff like that from the States, and knowing how the US generally gets stuff first (not surprising considering companies like EA are US companies!) I set up a US iTMS account as soon as I bought my iPhone 3G. You don't need a US credit card, you don't have to live there - all you need is Google.

And then, you can get the games and apps you want without having to wait. Or, you can just keep whining ... your choice. ;)

It's not a very deep game, and if you love console versions you're sure to see it as just a small part of the whole that you get there, but again, if you don't have it, have some interest, and have a buck...have at it.

Oh how the landscape has changed. Months ago I would've nabbed this for a buck instantly. But now there are so many great games for a buck or even for free that I just don't have space on my device for Spore.

Oh, I think it's plenty worth $.99. It's basically creating a microscopic creature to your specs, then helping it to evolve by eating smaller creatures and avoiding larger creatures trying to eat you. You can customise your creature in quite a few ways, and power it up in offensive and defensive categories. You progress through levels like primordial ooze, etc...I haven't finished the game, since I only play in small bursts, but it's a fun little game, and most definitely worth a buck especially if you don't have Spore elsewhere. And expect to see this in the top 10 in about a week...anytime a big title (even hella old) drops to the buck level the dls go skyrocketing.

thats true... will maybe check some youtube videos. I am not that sure with big titles since I was let down by Mass Effect Galaxy (at least it has ME2 bonus and nice comic graphics)

yea, looks like MEG was rushed and without optimalization. Those combats should be so much fun if they were in Alien Breed style. Or they should release it just as motion comic book/short anime just because of story...

I can't beleive I paid $10 for this game. It's all extremely easy except the last two levels. It's repetitive and a waste of anyone's, who has played or has had the desire to play the pc version, time. There is hardly any customization, color of paint and like 5 or 6 objects. I thought the scenery was pretty lame just some seaweed looking stuff and an oozy looking background, it's just a lot of swimming around stabbing stuff with your spike and picking up little pieces of food. No replayability at all, once done with the 28 super easy levels, you will probably never finish the last two unless you sit down and force yourself to finish. Save your money, this game sucks.

It's interesting to re-read an old thread like this, and be reminded how much people's expectations have changed. Paying ten dollars for a game didn't raise any eyebrows a year ago. A $10 price tag seemed fair when compared to the price of new console games. And now, some people question whether it's even worth a dollar:

I have Spore for the PC, but I haven't gotten around to playing it. I only have so much time at my PC but I always have my phone. For a buck, I guess I can't go wrong. I can't seem to stop my sale purchases. Every time someone posts a good sale on a good game, I buy... even if there are 20 games I haven't finished (or even started) yet.
