Or maybe its the title of a new RPG by Gameloft.
EDIT:
Now that I think about it, maybe its a TBS/Tactics style RPG.

The art and fire design definitely doesnt look like something for a hocket game, Im thinking of a hack 'n' slash or RPG. I've seen a couple games with almost the same type of logo.

That would be cool, but a fighting game is more likely.

Yeah, but more stealthy than assasins creed, like a true assasin, lurking in the shadows, with ninja stars and throwing knives!

I clicked on the 'bladesoffury' username to get a better look at his avatar pic.
Looks like a demon or some sort of beast with a Transformer helmet on??? Or do I need to quit smoking so early in the day?

Are you shittin me? WTF Gameloft. Stop announcing games when you haven't even released priors. I mean on the Modern Combat thread, an idea was proposed that Gameloft wouldn't want to release MCST because they had just released Gangstar:West Coast Hustle, and they figured (Gameloft) that you cant release two high profile (iphone) games right after one another. So why the F*%& are they announcing this one and Asphalt 5 and so many others. And why the hell did they release that stupid little nothing at all game (for the sake of this rant don't scrutinize me on that (name i don't remember) game) at the same time they released Gangstar:West Coast Hustle?!!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!
Ok now im done with my rant.
I know none of the above makes sense but i was infuriated while writing it, but now im calm.
Still Gameloft you make some of more favorite games

With 500 people working at once for iPhone games, 10 titles is hardly too many projects running at once. 50 people per project is enough to make some quality games, we've seen what 1 person can make.

It doesn't really give anything away as to what the actual gameplay will be.

Seems clearly like a Soulcalibur clone to me.
What's starting to really bugging me off is that Gameloft intends to clone every bit of console successes.
Here they just put Ivy versus evil Siegfried.
Damn, they got the money to hire a gamedesigner, why do they keep pasting gamedesigns ? It's not like it would be a pain in the ass to just think a minute about new looks here, or scenery ...
I do not support this at all.

Then buy your game elsewhere, the rest of us are happy to have console quality games on our iphone. Did you know that the iphone is the envy of other mobile platforms because Gameloft seems to be allocating every resources into iphone development. Nokia users are salivating with every screenshot and shouting why is this only for the iphone! The nice thing about the iphone is small devs can also have their share of the market so buy your game from them, don't let gameloft hinder your enjoyment of those games

I never said I would buy their games ;)
And furthermore, Gameloft is powerful now, they got money. It would be like if all the actual great VG companies (which started with not so original games too) just kept selling cheap versions of other successes.
With Gameloft actual potential, cloning is simply a waste of horsepower.
Concerning the fact that Nokia people keep crying that Gameloft do not produce these games for their platform, there is no relationship with what I said : Because if Gameloft was actually producing original concepts, it would be the same problem for Nokia users, if not worse.
But everybody got their own opinion, mine is only engaging myself.

I see your point, but how many original ideas for games do you think there are left?
The list of big titles on any platform are all essentially clones of some game before them. That applies to pretty much every genre, whether it's RPG, RTS, FPS/TPS, hack-and-slash, platformers, side-scrollers, and the list goes on and on.
I think my point applies even more to the iDevice platform. As much as we've seen games that literally could not exist without the touch screen interface, the platform is much more limited mainly due to the touch screen itself. Seriously, there are only so many control schemes you can have on the iDevice. Virtual controller (joystick and buttons), swipe/shape-drawing, or use of the accelerometer are pretty much your only options.
So I think devs have take all that into account when creating new games for this platform. And as I said before, truly original ideas are nearly impossible, considering it's pretty much all been done before.
Don't forget that at the end of the day, you're playing these games on a cell phone/mp3 player, so even if this is a Soulcaliber clone, that's still pretty impressive.

And I realize that from a user-only point of view, it's not that a big deal to have clones.
Sorry, mine was more of a gamemaker point of view.
One thing I have to admit is that Gameloft always produce fantastic graphics. So I'm expecting great ones on their first fighting game ^^

To be fair, the entire Soul Caliber series is basically just a clone of previous fighting games, with swords added. It didn't really add anything new or original to the genre - and this is coming from someone who spent a lot of time with the original Soul Edge game and has fond memories of the whole experience.
If Gameloft wants to make a weaponry-based ring fighting game, it is kinda hard to accuse them of copying something that is essentially a tenth-generation Xerox itself.

Definately curious about this one. A fighting game ala Soul Caliber ...sweet!
...but the controls will make or break this game. Hopefully they will use a combo of taps/swiping which from the screens looks like what they have done as there are no buttons on the right and just an analog stick on the left. Looking forward to seeing some gameplay video.

If it responds well, swiping is probably the only way to go in a 1-on-1 combat game on the iDevice.

What I want to know is... will it have crazy intros? e.g.
(deep voice) "The forces of light deal with the Lexus they crashed into the ditch. Combatants now war."
That would totally complete the Soul Calibur experience. :p
I'm glad someone finally had the balls to put a fighting game out there. All this philosophizing and whatnot about the control scheme, at least the public will get to decide one and for all. In the same way we found out sometimes a dpad is better than tiltilg and vice versa, by actual handson.

^^ I am sure they are doing this on purpose...kinda of marketing strategy,i think.if a game looks and acts like a GTA clone it will prolly fetch more sales..atleast that's what they think. i find it hard to believe that a big company like gameloft known for producing games with awesome gfx and ever improving controls can't come up with something original.
In reality an overwhelming majority of games(iphone,xbox,ps3,etc,etc) are clones of games before them.the only thing diff. is improved gfx, physics, etc, etc.i think quite a few people are annoyed at gameloft not because their games are based on popular franchises but they try to make them appear blatantly similar.....like the naming, character modelling, lack of originality as far as plots are concerned, etc, etc. I mean take this game. They could easily make a hack & slash game without making it appear a soul caliber clone by making small changes here and there....like say, characters lookin different(compared to SC).But they are not gonna do it because they prolly think(whether wrongly or correctly) games will sell more this way. I hope i made sense!

That's precisely what I don't support in Gameloft : the absolute cloning, in every little details, is clearly made for money.
The true videogamer spirit is not there. The one that wants to push back the limits, I mean.
But there is another good consequence in all of this : original creators slowly wake up from their iPhone sleep, and decide to claim their place by releasing the true original game which has inspired Gameloft's clones.
GTA China wars from Rockstar is one perfect example ;)

I think you nailed it bud. I'm not even saying I won't enjoy this game, but I'm just really put off with how they purposefully try to bring a game as close to the original emulated franchise as possible. Like C0re said I feel gameloft can walk on their own feet without piggy backing on well treaded franchises.

Sequels, ports, and expansions in no way make the game unoriginal. Stealing and duplicating another game's UI for instance does however make it unoriginal.

I'm not used to cry for videogames, dude.
And yes, there's a huge difference between a clone and an official port.
We call it legitimacy.
What would you put most credits into ? A pair of Nikk Airmaxx ? Or a pair of Nike Air Max ?

- 10 unique characters, each with their own weapons and fighting style,
- 10 different arenas,
- 4 game modes: Story, Arcade, Survival and Practice
- Multiplayer mode via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi
- 2 ways of control.
What would you put most credits into ? A pair of Nikk Airmaxx ? Or a pair of Nike Air Max ?That's a horrible, horrible analogy. A pair of Nikk Airmaxx are guaranteed to be of poorer quality because those companies are too poor to establish their own quality brand in the first place. Gameloft has proven it can establish quality IPs. It doesn't matter if the game is a clone or not.

Sorry, but there are very, very good counterfeits of Nike Air Max.
Which doesn't change my question...

This game looks great. Bat as always, it will be sub-par with my expectations.

Subjective experience aside, I don't think cloning, near the point of infringement, games like god of war, hot shots golf, GTA, or Call of duty really established their "quality" IPs. BOA is theirs I found out, so why when you have a franchise already, would you create a second war game, just to rope in the COD fans. They could have just as easily named it BOA something or other.

I think the real question is: Would you rather have Nikk Airmaxx or no shoes at all? Once counterpoints to Gameloft's efforts come out, that will force them to innovate to die. Right now the competition is just not that. So personally I would rather have shoes, even knock off shoes, then no shoes at all.

Yeah, your point is plainly valid :)
And it reinforces what le'deuche123 & me were writing : They have enough money to hire several real gamedesigners. So they could easily be a new Nike instead of just another Nikk.

Think I'll avoid the tortured metaphor about footwear... If it's good and I like it I'll get it.
Problem is, I just can't see the controls working for this. I've yet to see a virtual stick with the precision you need for special moves in a fighting game. I hope I'm proven wrong or it uses some clever swipe controls; I loved fighting games before they got too clever (i.e. after Tekken 3).

Wow the graphics look very close to Soul Caliber for PSP. Maybe a few more rough edges here and there, but they look very similar. Can't wait for this to be released along with all their other 20 games that are coming out.

There should be a clash feature where two similar dashing strikes should result in locked swords pushing each other, like Samurai Shodown.

you should say: "they got me San Andreas Clone, Call Of Duty Clone, God Of War Clone, Madden Clone" but what's wrong with it.
you should say: "they got me San Andreas Clone, Call Of Duty Clone, God Of War Clone, Madden Clone" but what's wrong with it.Who cares? Why can't we get both original IPs and versions of games we love? On consoles making a FPS might be stale cause it's flooded with those but on the iPhone it's not. I'm glad Gameloft decided to do these type of games to fill genres underrepresented because (a) proof of concept (it wasn't long ago when folks thought a good FPS on the iDevice was impossible) (b)most of the time the console devs most likely wouldn't bring it over.

Anyone notice the giant troll/ monster rampaging in the distance in the first fight? Nice level of detail, a little similar to the God of War series. K-ajiHX15mk
