Overview:The story starts out as you Danny the worthless boy who knows little about business much less handling a tycoon. This so called scenerio happens due to the fact that Richard, the so called savior to rescue Cock-a-doodle Inc. to save them from the economic down turn, manages to get hurt and now you must come to the rescue and impersonate him. The story is not very attention grabbing but when have the stories ever been enticing?
Here you are granted with 19 levels and one more as you complete the last one. Once the levels have begun you are given access to 4 different screens in which you must alternate through the use of the buttons seen onscreen on the lower right hand side. Each doing something different as to farming, processing, distribution/sales, and marketing.
Sound: I would say this is one of the weakest links towards the game though not the achilles heel. There is nothing spectacular to say about it yet nothing wrong with it. Since being a TM game it is a must that that the in-game music must not get repetitive. That being said this game has no in-game music, judging right now it must depend on the customer to decide. As for me I usually stick with the game's music, so switching to my own doesn't affect me either way. The sound effect do what they do as when the truck takes way the chickens for processing its makes the expected vroom! sound. You can judge from what I said if this is major or minor. I found this no way affecting my gameplay experience but some could.
Controls: I have to congradulate them on the excellent controls as I found myself not once felt frustrated with the touch interface. It is very fluid from selecting factories to slapping the cook silly for sleeping on the job.
You also do not feel overwhelmed as everything is placed nicely and well organized for you to know where they are.
Graphics: The graphics are above average compared to most TM's though ultimatly not very noticable. The art design is very appealing as it is very colorful. The character cutscences add a vibrant flavor to the mix that I have grown to adore.
Gameplay: Now this game is not your ordinary TM. It gets very intense throughout the game managing 4 screens at one time. This may seem to turn off the casual audience but shouldn't as if you went from level to level it should ease you into it. The first few levels are basically the tutorials to get you into the game and then gradually rises in difficulty. Which is difficult enough that it won't dissapoint those who want a challange such as myself.
The way the game is played strays a bit from the TM games you know such as Sallys Spa where you control one character to do everything. In fact you actually watch over the production and never have to lift a finger...unless something goes wrong. Of course it wouldn't be fun if you did nothing. There are many things that go wrong (as they do in real life) which involves cleansing an epidemic, maintaining farms, draining the fatty oils, keeping your cooks and cashiers in check, and etc.
Yet you are not alone at these troubled times as you can aquire assistants each with different attributes concerning different tasks to help you through these troubled times. Throughout the levels you also aquire new facilities and the ability to upgrade them.
Building such an empire does not go without its consequences as you are faced with more than what you see during the levels. As you also fight animal protesters, strikes, frustrated customers, and etc...just like in real life.
The length may seem such a concern to some as there are only 20 levels. I believe it is sufficient enough as the levels are much longer in length than you think. While most make you do such tasks in one day, in this game it is over a period of time (in days which are presented in the left hand corner of your idevice.)
What Grinds My Gears: One thing to add is how once you have met the basic objective is that it ends on the spot without knowing the profits that could have been made. I believe that playing through the days and comparing your profits and the objective you completed leading to a grade would have been much better.
Also the almost generic feeling of the workers turn me off but that is a plague consistent with quite a few TMs. A add in personality to liven them up a bit would not be too shabby.
Lastly and also a minor one is when pressing fast forward the blinking symbol can get quite annoying and distracting. Maybe making it less obstructive such as putting it in a corner or take away the blinking would do nicely...but I am only referring to the FF symbol and not the Pause symbol as it is fine.
Final thoughts: I have to say I have had lots of fun with this game. Not quite perfect but an upper tier TM game and would love to see what an update could do. This has so far become my top TM game ahead of Sally Spa and Diner Dash, which in my opinion are the best TM games. For those who don't care about money and want a polished game then buy now and be satisfied. Those just looking, keep watch in your wishlist.
Satisfies the casual, TM, and even the hardcore gamer as this game is by far the deepest TM with it's solid graphics and delightful concept and name to back it up.
Sound 3.5/5
Control 4.5/5
Graphics 4/5
Gameplay 4.5/5
Overall 4.5/5
