Well, dear friend, rest assured: Riddim Ribbon is on the way. In fact, the game is kicking b*tt and taking no prisoners. We’re pretty sure you’ll love it! That’s the good news. However, it’s taken us longer than we expected to put all the finishing touches on the game. Because of that, we’re unlikely to ship the game in October, as originally planned :) Sorry folks, but the game won’t ship until after the holidays.

We haven’t been idling though. In the mean time, we’ve added tons of cool features to the game. Later this month we’ll put up a new video, but in the mean time, here’s a new screenshot that shows what the game looks like now.

Really? Unless you play some dramatically different sounding songs it just feels like a repeat of the same thing time after time, much like every media player visualization on the planet. Plus it's just not all that accurate, plenty of times while playing, the song approached a section with a faster tempo and I'd sort of psyche myself up for the inevitable speed increase on the game... then it just wouldn't happen, in some cases it even slowed down.

Apple doesn't allow that yet...If they did, I think AudioSurf would be all over it. AudioSurf is such a GREAT game and would be so nice to have on the iPhone!

yes but it doesn't allow song files to be used beyond just playing. So games like audiosurf would be unable to process the algorithms in the music.

It "could" be done similar to Labyrinth's Level Editor. They make online online service or program for PC/MAC that will process your songs, save rendered track and you will be able to download it to your iDevice and...
You have song in library and downloaded track with variations in speed and stuff according to songs tempo.
This is just idea.

I don't think Tapulous is going to go the "cheap" route with this one. iirc you'll be able to use music from your own library and it's way different from there normal tap tap games. I'm guessing it will be offered initially $2.99 to $4.99+ range. I will let you know how it is because it will be an insta by for me. ;)

If I am not able to make use of my library(i.e. Tap Studio and Beatrider where you can utilize music within your personal library) then I won't be getting it. The problem I have with all of the tap tap/rock band/Guitar Hero type of games is that the music offered is mostly music that doesn't appeal to me.

The music i have in my library is not only tailored to me but it can also be endless. I am hoping for the best in this case and I don't mind paying a higher price to be able to do so...

I have a different way of looking at it. While I would enjoy playing to music from my own collection, the Tap Tap series introduces me to all kinds of music. While not all of this music has been to my liking, I have through the Tap Tap series discovered some great music.

The perfect app would be one in which one could both use one's one music as well as download music through the app.

@mihir79 I can see where your coming from but in my case, I work with a wide variety of music on a daily basis. Descovering music isn't a problem, it's not being able to go past what is offered on my time and not when Tapulous decides to add DLC. I'm sure the game will be awesome regardless but I don't want to be limited to a little box.

@Bdragonist yeah I know in the back of my head Tapulous may go about it that way but with the dynamics of this game being completly different, I just hope they can go both routes with there own DLC as well as being able to somehow let us consumers do our thing. I can see it being possible.

According to Tapulous's blog at Tpaulous.com/blog it will be released 48 hours from February 5, 2010. Or on February 8. Usually that means Feb 8 in the USA.

That is correct. "I Am T-Pain" lets you auto-tune to ANY song in your library. This feature will be missing because of Tapulous' end, not Apple's. But it makes sense and you can't blame them...it's all about the money, hate to break it to you: but lots of things in life are all about the money.

Anyways, really pumped up for this game. Been waiting for quite awhile. It's going to be huge. Hoping it launches at 12 Midnight EST, but who knows...

I Am T-Pain also uses the music to create an Auto-Tune remix of it. Whatever the problem is, it is what it is, let's just be happy we have Riddim Ribbon for now...:/

It's only four over here on the west coast. At best, I'll be able to download it this evening, at worst, I won't get it until Tuesday. I saved about 6 dollars of the giftcard I got for my birthday just for Riddim Ribbon. I can't wait to buy this game, but I'm worried that there won't be enough depth to the gameplay to keep me coming back. The videos that tapulous has released so far have been far too short for me to get a solid impression of the game.

No one knows for sure, but most people are assuming anywhere from 99c to 5 dollars. I don't think this one will be free since it features music from a premium artist, and like the artist editions of Tap Tap, it's going to cost.

It's confirmed not to be free as Tapulous listed "a free copy of Riddim Ribbon" as a prize for some contest they are having, thus obviously meaning that without winning the contest, Riddim Ribbon will not be free. The most convincing thing I've heard so far is $4.99 and that doesn't include DLC packs *sigh*.

Also since this company is located in CA, I'll place bets that it won't be released before Midnight PST at the earliest, being 3 AM EST at the earliest, which sucks for some of us :/

I think so too, it's not out in NZ yet, and you are right, the company is based in LA, so probably it will be released at 3 AM ET.

No you're wrong, it's already midnight in the UK so it is definitely past midnight in NZ. My money is on a worldwide release all at one time, if not at Midnight PST, then sometime during 2.8.10 as promised...

huh? i meant 1:55PM on 8th.. they still have 10 hours to release the game if they're gonna release the game on schedule..

my money is on NZ first, Europe, then US just like any other big games released on app store.

Oh, well again since they are based in CA, it is possible they could release the game on schedule while being 2.8.10 in PST but 2.9.10 in NZ. Although I don't think they will release it that late.
