Macbook pro... trouble connecting ipod touch thru wifi...

Anyone else have this problem?

I create a network through System Preferences/Network... I've turned wifi on, on my ipod touch and connected to this network... but whenever I try to use Safari, or anything else requiring wifi, it just stalls...
