After a long two week wait for Apple to review my game, GL Golf is finally available on the iTunes App store. Here is the direct link in anyone is interested (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=289559287&mt=8)

Any feedback is welcome, this is my first program I've released on the iPhone and I'm looking to improve it with a v1.1 update.

Porting over the game was a great and easy experience and I highly recommend it to anyone who has programmed Mac software with Cocoa.

Hi, would you please write down the description and price for those of us who do not have access to iTunes at the moment? Also, do you have a gameplay video? If so, please provide a link. Cheers!

Sure, the program is $7.99 and here is the description (also available here http://nuclearnova.com/glgolfiphone.php)

GL Golf is a 3D golfing game for the casual gamer. With a realistic physics system and great simple graphics, you and up to four players can golf five unique courses for countless hours. Everything in a real game of golf is included, such as water hazards, sand traps, trees, bushes, wind, four seasons, different times to play, and much more.

Unfortunately I don't have a video right now but I'm working on one

Just an update, a free four hole version, GL Golf Lite, is now available on iTunes (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=292074807&mt=8). I've also worked on the game a little for version 1.01, but I'll have to wait until November and December to optimize the game engine, add new courses, and improve the graphics.

It's been a while, but here are two more updates on the GL Golf franchise -

1) GL Golf Deluxe released - Twenty-Two course for $9.99 (on a special release discount, normally $14.99) . Check it out here - http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=301557622&mt=8

2) GL Golf is now on discount to $5.99 (normally $7.99) for the same time that GL Golf Deluxe is on discount. The last update also added a sixth course. Link still in the first post of the thread.

Any feedback is welcome, especially since there is a free lite version to try.

Wow, normally $15? Pretty ballsy

this is exactly what I said would happen... my "premium" version of the game that I paid 8 dollars for gets discounted down and a new "premium" version comes out. Instead of just updating the original for those who have already bought the game. Am I out of line for being upset about this?

It's a really great game that I really enjoy playing, probably one of my favorites... so I don't want my rant to mislead anyone into not buying it... but I just feel cheated by this. I think it could have been handled better.

Sorry about the late reply, I guess I wasn't subscribed to the thread like I thought I was!

Vende, after talking to several other developers I've decided to leave it at $9.99. Anything higher than $10 will be a big turn off, and even though the mac version costs $25 I can't charge even half of that on the iPhone.

theishkid : I'm real sorry about this, I wish apple allowed for a $2 upgrade but they don't. I had to pay my course maker to convert all of the mac courses to the iPhone, so unfortunately I couldn't just give the courses away with a free update. Send me a PM and I'll see if I can get you a free code for GL Golf Deluxe

In other news -

I just wanted to inform anyone who subscribed to this thread that GL Golf Standard (phobos.apple.com—viewSoftware I just wanted to inform anyone who subscribed to this thread that [URL=http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=301557622&mt=8) is on sale for a limited time at $0.99. After a short period of time it will return to the original $5.99 price point. I've been reluctant to drop the price, but with all of the competition on the app store I'm willing to try this price point for a short time.

I'm also giving out a few free iTunes codes for GL Golf Deluxe (USA Only, sorry but I tried to give to a user to try in another country and iTunes gave an error). If you're willing to give an HONEST review on iTunes (1 star, 5 star, doesn't matter as long as its honest) send me an email to sales@nuclearnova.com within the next day or two with why you deserve a code and I'll send you one if I have any left.

Again, any feedback is welcome. I'm in the process of adding a Practice mode to the game so you can try the same holes over and over again with infinite mulligans, as well as adding some other features from the mac version.

I just played two holes but this game is AWESOME! HIGHLY recommended! 23 courses or so, all 4 seasons, different times of day, ball colors. I really really love this game. Great tap-tap swing mechanism.

The developer was nice enough to give me a promo code so I have been playing GL Golf Deluxe which I have been really enjoying. I love the settings to change the time of day and the seasons even. I like the dusk setting personally.

It's very easy to swing and I have already gotten double bogey's :D
There are loads of courses so I def recommend this game. I'm off to leave a review on the itunes app store.

Thanks again for the code!!

When GL Golf first came out, I passed on it as I thought the graphics were lacking. I though the "Par" golf game looked better, but having played it on my Palm, and trying the lite version, I found the game play lacking and passed on it too, waiting for what was supposed to be the upcoming release of Tiger Woods. As we all know, that didn't happen at year-end and is still some time out.

While I'm now really looking forward to Let's Golf, I decided the $1 sale on GL Golf was reason enough to buy it and give it a try. Once I got past my dislike for the floating golf club and less than ideal graphics, I've come to like the game. While it may not look the best, it's got good game play. If the $1 standard sale price continues, I think it will be less frustrating for people to upgrade to deluxe if they want the extra courses--$1 is a lot easier to "throw away" than $5 if you later decide you want the extra courses of deluxe.

Thanks for the reviews guys, I'm glad you are enjoying the game. I need to work on the graphics some, thats definitely a big summer project once I have some time off.

Promos were for the deluxe, but I'm pretty much out of them now so I gotta save the one I still have until I update and get 50 new ones.

I purchased GL Golf for $.99 and I am very happy with the game. It has the best physics of any golf on iPhone. It's a steal at this price.:D

I dl'ed the lite version and enjoyed it. It reminded me of an old game I used to play online like 10 years ago called java golf ( atleast thats what I think it was called ). Anyways after enjoying the lite version, I decided to buy the .99 one. For a buck you really cant go wrong.

PS : It looks like I'm out of codes for the Deluxe version, I'm really surprised how many requests I received so quickly!

I would like a code because I would like to review the game on the iTunes app store. I have Let's Golf, but would like to compare the two games and see the strengths and weaknesses between the two.

I would like a code for the deluxe version because I already own the original one (which I love) and would like to see the difference in the two, and see some of the new courses. Thanks! Oh yeah and I would submit a review for you on itunes.

I would like a code for the deluxe version because I love golf games and I don't care about graphics, I just care about content, and GL Golf Deluxe seems to have a lot of content!!

I would review on iTunes Store

I would like a code for GL Golf Deluxe. If I am given a code, I will make it my business to post a review on the App store as well as on some of the App websites (I don't have my own yet, but I might start one). Also, I have a blog that started out as a private one for friends and family, but now it sees an average of 2000 unique visitors a day. I'll be sure that my review makes it to my blog. Right now, my blog doesn't have any other reviews, so if I put a review up, everybody will see it (I don't have my site in my signature by the way; I'm still trying to keep it semi-private because I don't want to deal with spam).
Thanks,
Michael

EDIT: I also already own Let's Golf and would love to compare the two games in the review (based on which game has more accurate physics, etc).

Well I feel funny 'begging' for a code, but I'll bite. I have fully reviewd both the Free version and the GL Golf version (which I paid $7-8 for, can't remember). I'd love the Deluxe version but not sure I want to shell out another $10 to be honest.

I participate in your forum as well and made many suggestions, some of which have ended up in the game (vertical yards, pulling back the green cam).

And I love the game :)

Be careful of these four users trying to get codes and trade them on the promo code exchange group - http://forums.toucharcade.com/group.php?groupid=11&pp=10&page=1.

Excuse me? I own GL Golf Deluxe and wrote a review for the app store.

I don't appreciate being named in this at all. If I have a code and already have the game, yes I will offer it to someone else.

OK here we go. You could have PM me; no need for this...........; especially since it's most likely a misunderstanding bro.

Nuggetsman is not like that; I really dought he would say it did not work if it did. But if he won one I guess he deserved one that worked?

I'm not mad at you............but it's kind of frustrating. I feel bad for you though. But remember I'm just another user; I can't do much. And with a ton of pages a day; I can't keep up with them.

You gotta remember sometimes people who already have the game try to get the code for family members. When they don't want it; the Exchange Club and the giveaway group is where they go.

But remember; I'm on nobody's side. And I can't do much. :(

Not at the moment, being a full-time student doesn't leave enough time for a full sequel. I'm going to continue to improve both the iphone and mac version, and possibly add online multiplayer this summer with the help of a friend.

I had a chance to review GL Golf Deluxe today in connection with the 20% off sale, and here are my thoughts after a few hours of golf ;)

I know this could easily be a very extensive review, But I’ll try and keep it short…! Well, let me start by saying that, if any game takes the sport of golf seriously on the iPhone, this would most certainly be one of them!

Not to say that a casual player wouldn’t enjoy this game, he most certainly would. But this is a game a serious golfer would feel matched his ideal for what could be achieved on the device, of that I’m pretty sure!

What you get in this game is a thorough collection of golf courses, which seems to be situated throughout the world! - From Scotland to Florida. You’ll have a choice of 1-4 players, various difficulties, ball colors, season’s, even at which time of day to play! Nothing seems left to chance here…

Gameplay is comprised of the course, on which you’ll have everything you could want for a good game of golf. Being not a pro golfer, you tend to be a little overwhelmed, but it all soon makes sense, more or less ;) - From everything you have to take into account; weather, yards, vertical yards, holes, par, even down to which iron you are using. Yes, attention to detail is everything…!

I must admit, the more I play, the more addicted I seem to be getting, Hehe, well, - It get’s to the point where I want to go out and try my new skills on a proper course, which probably wouldn’t be a pretty sight, just yet :p

Incl. In the game is a in app possibility of buying, - and seriously, you have to be a complete nutter for golf to want more than what’s in the game as is. But the possibility is there, to buy even more courses and irons! I kid you not!

So help me; I bet I’ve either forgotten half or skipped one third. This game is every bit it’s asking price of §7.99 worth. And if you hurry, you can even take advantage of a 20% off sale.

I highly recommend this game, and it’s no surprise that rave reviews of it seems to popping up everywhere…
