Appminer has 209 new games released since midnight.

How the heck is anyone supposed to wade through that to determine what games they might enjoy?

Anyways - not trying to clog a thread, but thought people might be interested...

Either Apple hired a slew of new app reviewers or they just said f*** it and approved their entire backlog of submitted games

They must have looked at the huge "stack" of apps they needed to review, and said "f*ck it," and hit the Big Red Approve All button.

Edit: Totally didn't see jecebn's post :p

Or maybe they just got S***faced and just had loads of fun stamping "Approved" on everything they could see... They will be going home with big red stamps on their foreheads..."Approved"!!

Wow 453 new apps released all at the same time? That is a VERY BAD idea. No way is anyone going to go through that many apps to find one that they like.

Funny thing is that all the apps are not bullsh*t apps like the Whack a Mole games. They're actually really good ones like Above&Beyond, Aera, Robocalypse, Zombie Pizza, etc,etc

I feel sorry for the people who didnt check AppShopper or TA today - they probably missed a lot of good titles (titles that will be lost to them in the clutter of the App Store)

I don't know if they're any good or not (haven't got around to playing most of them), but here's what I've purchased so far today:

Ninja TD
iBlast Moki
Burgertime Deluxe
Robocalypse
EGO City Invasion
Knight Chess
Castle Warriors
Super Shock Football
iPharaoh
Boom Brigade
Gold Miner Joe
Headhunter
World Poker Tour: Texas Hold 'Em
Scarecrow
Against the Fire
Ancient War

The only ones I've played so far are Robocalypse (which is amazing) and Ninja TD (pretty good tower defese game, but definately not the best in the app store) - it'll take me awhile to get through all of the purchases I made today  - not to mention the games I've purchased over the last week (Dexter, Dungeon Hunter, Madden + others)

How do you know that not all the apps are rubbish? You've just listed 4 decents apps out of 453.

The worst thing is that they still arent stopping yet. New games are still popping up and only god knows what saturday is going bring with it. I hope its NFS Shift and Fifa 10. Then I`ll be officially bankrupt :D

this is the way it should be :D about time someone kicked ass at apple, clearly if they hadnt done this today most of these titles would be gathering dust for weeks!

anyways, so far this week ive nabbed (with my personal rating in brackets):

New:

Aera (8/10)
Dungeon Hunter (9/10)
Gold Miner Joe (8/10)
ZX Gamer (1/10)

Sale:

Durak (7/10)
Katamari (8/10)

have my eye on others tho, just awaiting the TOFTT brigade to roll out.

More importantly, how are devs going to sell in all this noise? Imagine your app's been in submission for weeks and then comes out in this avalanche? Toucharcade is the only site that tries to mention these smaller but good polished titles, they will go unheard of at Appgamer, Touchgen, Pocketgamer, SlideToPlay, IGN, etc. Plus with Apple going back to the top 100, they pretty much are going to make Lite versions and hope for the best.

So how many games did everyone purchase since monday?
I bought 21 games, out of which 9 were bought in the last 24 hrs.
It's crazy, totally getting out of hand..

I feel bad for the individual or small group indie devs, anything they release this past two days are likely to be buried by the flood and missed.

Yeh. Though we can do a lot to help the devs rise up the charts if their game is good. iBlast Moki for the win!

Agreed, especially in regard to indie devs - With the storm of new games that were released yesterday (and are still apparently coming today as well), a lot of the smaller titles I might have normally considered purchasing got pushed to the side beacuse of all of the big titles being released - There's no telling how many "hidden gems" I probably skipped over.

And this is coming from someone who lurked around TA and AppShopper pretty much alll day yesterday - people who missed the "gold rush" yesterday probably missed out on discovering a lot of really good apps

Wow so many purchases as well.
Ninja TD - pleasant surprise, challenging TD (8/10)
iBlast Moki - pure fun and physics puzzler, hyped and well-deserved (10/10)
Robocalypse - awesome RTS, safe to say, its the best (10/10)
EGO City Invasion - very fun, and hard to put down (9/10)
Castle Warriors - 3d galcon, very nice artwork, lags a little on older device (9/10)
Boom Brigade - very unique line-drawing game full of action (10/10)
Hybrid: Eternal Whisper - hate it or love it, I think its the best of them all, awesome combo moves, engaging storyling and great gameplay (10/10)
Against the Fire - not as close to A4E as expected, but still fun (8/10)
Faceoff - not nearly what I expected, controls take time to get used to (7/10)
Above and Beyond Air Combat - very fun dogfighting game, I prefer over F.A.S.T. (9/10)
Crusade of Destiny - I don't know if I love it or hate it, but it was pricey (?/10) *Need more time

I'm the developer of Headhunter (nice to be here!) and can confirm that Apple probably just approved a slew of Apps to get them out of the way. The wait time for approval was supposed to be 14 days, but I was approved in 10. I also have analytics installed on Headhunter and saw that Apple only reviewed my game for about an hour or so... They must be buried.

Anyway, a bit bummed to hear that my game was released in a pile with all the others, but what can you do. Hope you guys get around to checking it out.

FYI, there's a thread on Headhunter here (http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=26064).

I also have a gameplay video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dCyffcCuT0&fmt=18) if that helps you decide whether to buy here.

I hear ya man. My friend and I worked almost 8 months on our game "Super Shock Football" Thread HERE. (http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=25946)

Only to see Apple throw it in a huge pile of other games. Hard to get your moment in the spotlight with that happening. Hopefully people will be able to find the Gems and get the ball rolling for us :)

Albie quote from another thread:

Even with the massive release of games over the past few days, I've only seen a handful, if that, that are worthwhile. The problem is that the good stuff gets buried.

I'd be interested in some of the vets opinions of the top few games from the weekend.

here's a graph of game releases for the last 60 days.

The person who said 400+ read that other site wrong. that was # over a couple of days.

The number at AppShopper is 302 on Friday alone.

Adding up all those numbers, I get 3,601 games approved in the last 60 days. Wow. That's 60 games, on average, approved per day.

Maybe all the the reviewers/approvers there at Apple got back from a party and were all drunk and saw all the apps that needed to be reviewed and they were like 'Screw it' and approved all the apps needed then went back to the party. :D
