How to use Mastercode -- GameShark

I was trying to use GameShark, and the regular codes are working, but I can't get the ones that require a Mastercode to work, where do I put them to get the cheats to work?

I just realized, I don't know how to use them for an iTouch emulator, not for the PC.

I decided to trash what I was doing, so I tried using Pokémon Ruby, but it won't make a .sav file; does anyone know why?

The master code has to be the first one entered.

Thanks, I decided I'm just gonna play regularly on the iTouch, it's too big of a deal to get all the cheats to work.
