Graphics
The graphics in Paradise Monkeys are top notch. Obviously the developer spent a lot of time in streamlining the ultra clean interface and as far as the game art goes, it all looks hand pixeled. The screens transition from one another dynamically and every screen your eyes are met with have some sort of beautiful artwork associated with them. While playing the game your eyes feast on a beautiful landscape of pixel art and as the monkeys pop up from their hiding place, its a visual treat when each monkey is uncovered fully. Each monkey also has its own unique animation. Some monkeys have bombs, some punch you in the face, some just wave a friendly hello!
I really can't say enough about the graphics in this game. I was absolutely floored at how much they packed into each screen, it reminded me of an old sega genesis game with high production value. Being a former pixel artist I can definitely appreciate all of the hard work that has gone into the graphical production of this game. Great job guys!
Sound
Everywhere you go in this game you hear a great soundtrack that is reminiscent of an old school genesis game or even an arcade game for that matter. The music matches the theme of the game and is very well done. While you play, everything you touch has a sound effect associated with it from selecting menu options to touching each monkey. It is extremely satisfying to tap each type of monkey and hear the "cash money" sound associated with doing a good job.
Handling
The main point of this game is that you have a board where 9 monkeys will pop up at certain locations. Each level tells you which monkeys to tap or not to tap before starting. Once playing, certain monkeys require certain ammounts of taps to get rid of them and if you don't send them packing, you loose health. Once you get playing, your heart gets going and its a true test of hand eye co-ordination to try and tap away all of the monkeys you need to tap. While playing this I found the screen to be ultra responsive and had no issue with tapping monkeys away.
The game features a story mode and a time trial mode along with 2 unlockable mini games. Story mode consists of progressing through levels which get increasingly more difficult as you progress. Time trial mode consists of several options allowing you to play a 60 second, 120 second or unlimited game. I definitely reccomend story mode first so you can get a feel for the game and get your hand-eye skills up, you'll need them.
Fun
Paradise Monkeys is fun, in fact, its not only fun but extremely addictive. Once you get into the swing of things you just want to keep playing. Everything in this game was obviously designed with high production value in mind. The graphics and sound blend seamlessly and with the precise handling and uniqe gameplay that this game offers it is more than fun, its a keeper.
Price
$3.99 for most games, is too high. In the case of Paradise Monkeys, its just right. The replay value alone is enough to pay for itself.
