I'm just curious what everyone else thinks about this. Should Apple mandate that a short video be included with the release of every app, either through youtube or a link to another website where the video can be seen? It sounds like a good idea, and making short game videos nowadays isn't exactly a difficult task for anyone. If anything it will probably boost sales for most of the good apps and expose the not so good apps for what they are so nobody wastes their money on them.

I like it when Vids are created as we get a better feeling of the game...as for it being mandatory. No as they are the dev and if they don't wanna make vid then they don't have to. also making one for every app such as the crap apps or for things that are obvious are unnesseary.

I think it could work, though if the decision were up to me, it would be optional. This way were not getting forced videos of "More Cowbell" and low quality, rushed clips from developers who could care less.

even a 30 second video would be better than none most of the time though.

They should encourage it but I don't think it should be mandatory. Devs who are serious about promoting their games will soon learn that for their own good, they should have gameplay videos put up and linked to.
But yes, I think making it mandatory might rid the store of all those spammy quiz apps.

yeah, I guess if Apple made it mandatory it would make them sound a little bossy, but in the end it would probably benefit all the developers except the bad ones lol

Yeah but I wish it was apple encouraged dev to do this more so that we don't always have to go "WTF is this game"

Yes, but they need to make a better way to capture video. Some people run emulators and capture from their mac, but this is giving very false frame-rates and capabilities (you can make it alot better looking and smoother).
I suppose we could write our own (i think thats what people do now) but for smaller devs It would be fabulous if there was a simple api to capture video directly from the device.

i agree with most people, apple should advise but not force. i am for this as screenshots normally either dont compliment the game, show it off too much and show that it is better than it really is or dont explain the game. just my thoughts

I don't think it should be "mandatory" but I think apple should add something into their store that will allow for a video clip up to 30 seconds as part of the preview page. So us users on our phones can look at a 30sec preview of the game or have it available for places like forums.
So mandatory no, but it would be nice if apple facilitated having a video.
