View Full Version : One short name for the iPod Touch and the iPhone together?

So, people have been using iPotch, iTouch, etc when talking about "the iPod Touch and/or iPhone". When talking about the platform I sometimes just say iPlatform or I speak of device since we're all talking about one of two devices that uses the same OS.

But how would you call it?

Also, if you hate people using such abbreviations, feel free to say that as well.

However, I know that I'll be using SOME sort of short name on Twitter and also here on the forums if I don't know what kind of device someone has.

So, where you in the same room, or on some chat when posting this? ;)

Good suggestion.

I generally use iPhone for both of them. Its shorter and better overall, as people know that you are referring to both of them.

Do you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch? Something just doesn't feel right for me talking about just iPhone, since I've got an iPod Touch...

I have an iPod touch, and have no issue with it. Its longer and gets cumbersome if you're having a longer conversation. iPod touch this. iPod touch that. iPhone, and most people still know what you're talking about.

I just say iPhone.

Like on my Bullet Development website I say that my game is coming out soon for the iPhone platform. I just assume that people know that mean both devices.

Ditto

I just say iPhone as well, and it's always assumed that it's both devices

I've got something even shorter than iTouch, so instead of telling people I have an iPod Touch, I just tell them I have an itch... :)

iDevices all the way. That's what I always have and always will call them. (unless I'm talking about a specific device, but that goes without saying :P).

its not "yours" unless you were the first ever to call it that, then its not yours. Thousands of people say this, and i doubt you are the first. Shut up.

Exactly. I use just "iPhone."

I've seen people bitch on other message boards (maybe 1 or 2 here....) when someone calls it an iTouch, as in "It's an iPod Touch, not an iTouch n00b!"

So I just go iPhone/Touch, or just iPhone. Kind of like how you're supposed to just say "he" or "she" (singular) when writing, when most of us just go ahead and say "they/them".
