Btw, it's not hard or anything, I did my TG wallpaper in Paint for crying out load :P (I can't link but it's in the thread "need iPhone wallpapers for two apps" or something along those lines). Tis nice and I use it :D then you won't need these wallpapers for a while lol.. Tho they do have some nice artwork in them, make a nice wallpaper.

and some games when i open up the ipa file to get the hi-res file; for some reason my pc or any program (not even photoshop) can read those png files. so not all games can be made to wallpapers.
when i get my ipod replaced expect better more quality wallpapers (hopefully) :D

the thread is nice but the wallpapers are never as good as custom made.
and that pdf file looks helpful to some but i don't need it. i will problably not make any wallpapers untill after the weekend when i get my ipod fixed. then you can expect better quality wallpapers.

They're are very nice wallpapers and they even go along with the lock screen so it looks professional and it matches your iPhone in a way.

Just go to the wallpaper you want, tap it and hold, then tap "save image." They images are very nice quality so they don't look blurry when you make them your wallpaper. Also, the site is slow, but the pics are great. I saved all of them onto my iPod :)

I did. Thats what I'm using, but it looks horrible. Its all fixed now. Upload in the next few minutes. I have JPEG images. I had it half done, but a condition called JPEG deterioration messed up all my colors. I always save as PNG or BMP now. Upload in a few minutes.

No, no. Look at the box with the rounded off corners at the bottom of all those wallpapers. It has a box specifically for the slider. It makes the wallpaper look really nice if you do that! Hopefully that makes more sense

What happened was I was trying different formats to get the best resolution (every one somehow managed to screw up :P) but now I'm just going to stick with JPG.. If you click 'save image' on your iDevice, the quality is dropped (noticably pixilated) so the best way to get them is to download it (right click, save image on PC/Mac) and then sync it in.

Anyway, I will be tweaking my latest TG one to fit peoples needs. I have Photoshop now (YES) so it is so SO much easier and better to do :D

You could try uploading your wallpapers to www.imageshack.us.

(If you don't know how, here are some instructions on uploading pics)

1. Click "browse" and select the picture you want to upload
2. Check the "resize image?" box and select 640x480 resolution (or higher, but this will suffice)
3. Check "remove size/resolution bar from thumbnail?
4. Click upload and copy&paste the address from "Thumbnail for forums (1)"
5. Important: There will be a '.th' somewhere near the end of the address. Delete it. If you don't, the picture will come out very small on the forums and you'll have to click on it to see it in a larger size.

Hope that helps :) the pics look nice even when you copy them from your device when you upload them like that. If you did it right, it should look like this:

not that im not allowed, its that i dont like. and spartan's head looks creepy on my screen. i'm waiting for little white bear to pm the image of the the texture on the files (the green texture on the blocks) so i can finish tan zen's official wallpaper. also if they could send me any other texture files that would be great. especially the buttons.

thanks. It might look a little blurry because i took two screens, one of the leap and one of the title, and had to really size up the leap so it would fit right. Overall i am happy with how it turned out. With a couple more of these i will probably become better at it.

IMO it's not, I allowed for this in both versions. The first one (light) was a test, the second one was adjusted accordingly.

In photoshop, select the image (layer) you want (lightens layer at a time), then go into the image menu in the top bar, adjustments, brightness/contrast (two adjustible bars to play around with. I hope this helps because I have to leave now, good luck with your other wallpapers.

Yea. I'll try to get more green off of it. I have to use multiple programs, including GIMP, Paint.net, and Paint to get these right. Gimp is really complicated, so I may get GIMP for Dummies or something to help, so I have to start with GIMP to open the PSD, and save it out, and then use paint to paste the pictures together, then take Paint.net and finish it. That is one of my first. I just started yesterday, so I'm relatively new. I may have to get Photoshop. But I'll see what I can do about the green, and maybe have a few different colors for the background.

But basically what I do, is open the image, select "Layers" from the "Dialog" menu (my GIMP is in Dutch, so I'm not sure if I translated those correctly). I believe you can also press Ctrl + L.
You can then select the layer you want to work on (just select it by clicking on it, you can make it (in)visible by clicking the eye icon in the Layer window).

You need to realize that all the options for that specific image (color tweaking, brighten, darken, etc.) are in the menu bar of that specific image window.

You should be able to figure out what the buttons on the 'main' window do. But yes, there are some things that are weird or take getting used to.
If you want to select multiple pixels (overlapping selections), you press Shift while clicking the new regions/pixels you want to add. If you press Ctrl while clicking regions, they are substracted.
I also have trouble moving selections sometimes. Often I end up simply creating a new image, pasting my selection as a new layer in there (I create a new, transparent layer and paste it on there), and then simply remove the original selection. Then, when I paste it from the other image, I can move it to where I want it to be.

That's really all I know, I don't do a lot with colors, for the wallpaper I made I only cut pieces of screenshots I made and paste them on a gradient background layer.

Gimp is very powerful, but an interface nightmare. You can download a 30 day trial of Photoshop at adobe.com. Not that Photoshop is easy to use for beginners, but it's miles ahead of Gimp in the interface department.

Photoshop Elements has many of the same features as CS 4, for under $100. It's probably good enough for basic editing tasks, unless you need to work with more advanced features, like channels, etc.

I may have to get Elements, as this is most of what I'll use it for, and I could probably trick some of my friends into paying for personalized wallpapers. GIMP looks and feels powerful, but is too confusing, so I have to take the PSD and save it out as an image, and manually edit it. Elements looks like the way to go, for me anyway.

Hey, i woke up, here is ky feedback after reading and using all the backgrounds people poste. First of all, the fastlane one looks insane i love the marks you put on the slider and the white was a very good choice, thnks for the great backtround. The fieldrunners one is also very very good i love the 2 stars you put on top of the picture which appear on the side of the clock. The ta ones work perfctly and the color schemes are great! Hos was awsome from the beggining but i think the textures spiced it up a bit, great job!

P.s i just had an idea for a backbround that i would love to see be made. This is my idea: take a screenshot of the lock screen and copy the slider part a couple of times on top of the original one.delte the original (so they dont overlap in the final image) and then make each of the sliders on top a different color. Someone pleas try doing that. Great backgrounds everyone who posted, i've saved'em all on my ipotch so i'll be switching back and forth between them...but right now ill be using fastlane one:cool:

Well seeing as I didn't have to fiddle with picture size/placement for once it took about half the time. I basically spent about half an hour to an hour fiddling with filters. Then I decided I needed to give something to texture up the top (the joypad, otherwise the colour was stuck hat deep red colour).
From memory, the picture contains about 3 of your pictures (with the extra joypad on top on all) all set at different levels of opacity. I made one with stain glass texture (if you look closely in the middle of the green part of the joypad and near the Spartan, you can see the hexagonal effect
There), another slide of your picture is slightly raised to give a minimal motion blurr, and the last solid slide of your picture (in the background) is sharpened on the edges and given an ink outline offect to make it look more like a drawing kinds thing. I finished it off by using a slight charcoal effect and after much fiddling got it to finish of as good as I could do.

Yeah it's dying alrite. But there will always be more games coming out, so it will always be able to hang around.
What I mean with the slider is, instead of sticking with an indented hole where it is (just following the shape it is) you can make a slider background be larger so that it borders the slider. Use my bootant one and you can see what I mean. Or with my fastlane one, instead of having an exact fit, I used a tyre skid that is a different shape and placement to where the slider is. It also attracts attention to anything behind the scroller which is always hard to see because of the darkness and opacity it has.
Does this make sense?

Hey tennisking, easiest and best way to make wallpapers is to use an already made (or make) professional looking one cut out the middle (main part) then put heaps of effects on it to create templates. Then you can just mix and match for your first one. Lookfarward to seeing it :)

That wallpaper looks really good. Maybe the one thing I didn't like was on the top you used blue and green, but on the slide button you used blue and yellow. Idk, maybe it's just me but maybe you could use the same color set for the top and bottom. Other than that it looks really good though

Did you make that specifically for the devs of Bobby Carrot? The wallpaper looks great! I think that one is your best so far, because it looks so professional. I bet the devs could put that in their game or something and people could screenshot it and use it for their wallpaper. Just an idea though

Aight, I made this touchgrind one in between my last post and now. I know it's real sloppy and everything, just thought I could do something this morning. I definitely do some more work later today, I'm just not that motivated right now. Don't worry, my other work will be other than this :D.
Also, I think i saved it as a low quality jpeg for size reasons, so idk how it will look... I also need to get around to doing some artwork for Barrington Software for Bullet Skater...

Did you make that specifically for the devs of Bobby Carrot? The wallpaper looks great! I think that one is your best so far, because it looks so professional. I bet the devs could put that in their game or something and people could screenshot it and use it for their wallpaper. Just an idea though

PS I think all devs should start doing this. They should add a lockscreen wallpaper that comes with the game. That'd be so awesome ;)

Anyway, you guys are too kind in regards to wallpapers :P. I'm going to tweak it to suit FDG Ent.'s needs, then see what happens.
This is what they said needs fixing: I have checked the picture and I have to suggestions:

- The company logo should always be much smaller than the game logo
- Never hide a big portion of the logo with other objects (even if they
are transparent)
- Isn´t it a bit unrealistic to let Bobby fly below a tree?
- I also think less is more. There are too many effects on the picture.
Keep it clean.

I think half of what he said made some sense, but the rest didn't really sound right....

And, I don't really think they gave a very nice response to you after offering your wallpaper to them for free. If I were a developer, I'd be pleased to know someone cared enough for my game that they'd spend the time making a wallpaper just for my game. Even if the wallpaper was a piece of junk, I'd still appreciate it. I wouldn't give a list of all the things that are wrong with it, but I'd thank the person.

Well, these aren't app related wallpapers, but they're really good ones that users made on another iPhone/iTouch/App forum.

Yeah, calling it a "gimmick" is a little bit harsh, but.. I guess it is lol.. but I like gimmicks. The iPhone is a gimmick, Bobby Carrot is a gimmick, so you know, how can he complain lol.
BTW, I asked him what he thought I should do with it, he seems like a nice guy. And he said if it was cool he would mention it or something..

Well, I don't think there are any problems with making wallpapers. This thread would've been locked/deleted long ago if there were possible copyright problems. Anyway, you can get the pictures just about anywhere on Google... I mean they're just pictures... It's not like you're giving out anything illegal :P

PS @ Dannys95, when I said I'd pay for wallpapers, that was to be nice and donate. I don't want to sound rude at all, but I'm just letting you know $1 for a wallpaper is a bit too high. 5-10 cents would be a better price, and to be honest, you could get a pretty decent iPhone game for a dollar.

Anyway, you could ask for donations if you wanted, but charging that much for a single wallpaper when there are all these other free ones is a little much :S
