View Full Version : Any good alternatives to Fieldrunners?

Hi everyone, now that i have played fieldrunners to death, with no new updates etc im kinda getting bored with it.

So my question, are there any good alternatives to this game or is there an even better TD game which im not aware of?

I really enjoyed Defender Chronicles and it's the best TD game IMO. You also might like GeoDefense Swarm.

Be more specific on what your looking for in a TD game. (open field, endless mode, etc.)

You might like moonlight minions or The Creeps!

Bloons TD is fun until past round 50 (where the endless mode starts). The balloons are stacked together so tightly that if you let one or two balloons through you have just lost all 100 lives.
Defender Chronicles isn't that great in my opinion, the game basically stops after you beat all the levels, I don't really see any point to the "level" system, or all the equips that give hundreds of bonus stats; you could very well beat the last stage with a level 5 character. O.o
Geodefense Swarm is fun I think, although some levels are really challenging. Therefore I would recommend Geodefense out of these choices. You might find the geometric graphics strangely addicting too.

I also like Tower Madness...nice online integration where you can watch replays of the top scorers for each level if you're having trouble with a level. Includes both open and fixed path maps.

Some newer or not so often mentioned TDs to check out are also:
Navy Patrol Coastal Defense
Comets and Craters
Ninja TD
Dragon Slaughter
Battlefield
Sweetwater Defense

nothing against fieldrunners, but personally i think most of the other td games in the apps are better.

fieldrunners just always felt very repetitive/bland to me.

try geodefense/swarm

Final fantasy Crystal defenders is IMO one of if not the best traditional style TD game. Only problem only a few levels. Best feature replayability factor.

I can't agree more especially if you are a FF fan.

There are some GREAT TDs on the iPhone, and I'm hard pressed to pick the best, but I'll try:

Defender Chronicles
7 Cities
Elemental Monster
Dungeon Defense
Tower Madness
Sweetwater Defense? (Looks great but I've barely gotten started with it)

If you like open non-maze play, 7 Cities and Tower Madness both have that (along with mazes too), and Geo Defense Swarm is all open.

The others mentioned are all good too, and they all play very differently--so read reviews and decide.

(On looks alone, Sweetwater and the GeoDefense games are pretty impressive.)

Maybe because it is overshadowed by a much better game similar to it, Geodefense;)

I find it to be just above mediocre. Not really worth it unless your really craving for more geodefense/TDs

Defender Chronicles has something that no other TD has. The only difference is the gameplay is a bit different as its 2d and straight on. And in stead of towers you have men. And with the rpg elements, lots of levels, very hard difficulty really makes it the best.

well, i like it but you have to play it for long stints to get anywhere. that's what i don't like about Defender Chronicles.
