I'm looking for a mic for my touch 2g that plugs in the dock connector. I want something self contained and as small as possible. I'm surprised there doesn't appear to be anything available for non-jail broken touches but maybe I don't know where to look. Any ideas?

You want it to plug into the dock? I know you could get the apple in-ear headphones that have a mic but those plug in to the headphone jack...

Didn't they just enable dock microphone apps in 2.2?

I suspect there will be some coming along, perhaps someone could make one out of a dock connector (from a cable)?

Yeah, I want one that is the size of a dock connector and plugs into the dock connector. I saw one online just like this but it only works with jail broken touches.

Yeah, that is exactly what I was looking for, although I have a feeling the iPod touch 3g will have a built in mic, so I'll just use the iPhone headphones for now and wait for the 3g.

I came across this a few weeks ago. Claims it works with
1st and 2nd gen Touch's. I have not picked one up yet but I will. If anyone get's one please post a review here. I just bought a Flip Video and I'm tired of buying toys!! :)

If you guys want to use your own headphones and not the iPhone headset, and you don't want to pay $30-$50 for a USB mic, I would recommend the

Philips iPhone Microphone Adapter (http://www.target.com/Philips-iPhone-Microphone-Adapter/dp/B0015C5CSM)

It is only $10 at Target. It works really well with the iPod Touch 2nd Gen, and it works with the TruPhone app.

I also use it with my iPhone in the car as a handfree device. The iPhone is connected to the MP3 aux in to the car speakers and the Philips mic picks up my voice from a few feet away. When calls come in, I just push the mic button and it will answer the phone. After the call, it will resume the app or iPod function.
