so no removable battery

It's great to see how many people want to buy music like this -- iTunes became the number one channel for music in the US. So what's new in 2009?"
I'd like to tell you about three things... first... price."
Over the last six years songs have been $0.99 -- music companies want more flexibility. New pricing, $0.69, and another tier at $1.29."
rootbeersoup
01-06-2009, 12:27 PM

01-06-2009, 12:29 PM
"Next, iTunes Plus -- it's DRM free, and much higher quality. We've worked with all the major companies... starting today, 8 million songs will be DRM free."
"By the end of this quarter, all 10 million songs will be DRM free." About time
All songs drm free
dannys95
01-06-2009, 12:29 PM
The third new thing happening with iTunes has to do with the iPhone."
"The music store is no longer just on WiFi -- it's over 3G as well."
It's the same quality you get in the store, right on your phone, no matter where you are, and you can sync back to your computer. That starts today."

Well, if the music is going to be DRM free, I hope they give you some sort of "file update" to remove the DRMs from what I already bought.
You can download DRM free versions via the iTunes Plus section of the store, but there is a small charge per track/album for doing so. Some people aren't too happy about that considering this is music you have already paid for, and I can see their point. But I can also see the point that you have only paid for 128kbps tracks, whereas iTunes Plus is 256kbps, so you are paying for double the quality as well as removing the DRM.

The good news is the music videos are also going DRM free. The only other place I can buy music videos from legally in the UK is 7digital, but their videos often use the WMV DRM'd codec, which can only be played in Windows Media Player. As I own a Macbook and don't have Windows installed (because you can install Windows on a Mac, for those not in the know), this is useless.
So iTunes will definitely be the place to get my music vids. I will start buying more music from it now too, although I will check with Amazon first as they are almost always cheaper.
BTW, you can now watch the keynote here (http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/0901ouabdcaw/event/index.html).
