Hey guys, i don't know if there's a thread on this but what are the best geometry wars clone for the iphone?
I really liked GeoFighter (http://itunes.apple.com/nl/app/geofighter-light-wars/id317032821?mt=8).

Geo Fighter: Light Wars
Isotope
Or maybe circuit_strike.one. It is more a asteroid game, but the "advanced" controls in that game are brilliant. You have to get used to it, but if you have it is perfect.

*bump*
I was looking at Isotope today, and enjoyed the lite version. It's pretty old though...are there any better games of this type out there now?
Edit: Btw, I have Geofighter and CS One. My all-time favorite is Meteor Blitz though, so far.

Critical Wave is my favorite dual-stick shooter and it's currently on sale for 99 cents. I paid 3 bucks when it launched and it's well worth it at that price; it's a steal at 99 cents.

Hmmm...from what I've read it only has survival mode. But apparently the controls are exceptional. Does it have nice particle effects when enemies explode? I would like some kind of campaign, but for 99 cents it's hard to turn it down.

I have GeoFighter. I don't know why, but I've never been able to get into it.
What makes Abstract War worth checking out?

Nothing. After having played every dual stick 'geom wars' clone, I must say abstract war is the worst of the batch. I suggest meteor blitz..I promise it's brilliant. Critical wave is def good for .99

Well, as stated earlier, Meteor Blitz is possibly my favorite iPod game of all-time. I don't really expect another dual-stick shooter to ever surpass it.
Anyway, I picked up Critical Wave. It's quite nice! Will possibly just grab Isotope as well, since it's different enough and seems good enough to have anyway.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

What do you mean by campaign? It's a series of levels, with each level consisting of several enemy spawn waves followed by a boss which "evolves" each level, growing ever larger and more dangerous. There's no story to speak of, but it's not just a neverending stream of enemies the way that Minigore is.

Pew Pew is a great dual-stick shooter that is very similar to Geo wars too. Might want to give it a go.

Yeah, I picked it up. It's really good.
Ended up picking up Isotope as well, because the lite felt so nice. These two together along with my semi-regular Meteor Blitz and CS.One sessions should satisfy me nicely.

The only one worth your time is ISOTOPE.

PewPew is free, too. It has (in my opinion) the best graphics out of all of them, because it's wireframe 3D.
PewPew 2 is coming (purportedly) this month! http://pewpewgame.blogspot.com/2009/12/pewpew-2.html

I've been waiting for Alley Labs' follow up! What do you guys have in the pipeline?
As for improvements, I basically think Meteor Blitz is a perfect game...the only thing I can think of as an improvement would be more boss variety, but honestly nothing else comes to mind.

Hi, PewPew's dev here :)
For what is worth, here's my advice regarding Isotope, Meteor Blitz and geoFighter. I won't compare them with PewPew because I would have no credibility ;)
Meteor Blitz is great: graphics are stunning, gameplay is very very good. The only downside it that there's not much diversity. True, there are several different weapons, but they don't really add much, and I end up always using the same weapon.
Still, it's my favorite non-homemade-dual-stick-shooter.
Isotope is not good. For starters, the default controls are absolutely terrible. You can change the controls to regular virtual joysticks, but I have no idea why it's not the default setting (and even the regular joysticks dont feel right). Secondly, the User Interface is really awful. Navigating the menus make me feel stupid. Thirdly, the progress of the game is complicated. You can upgrade your ship, buy new ships, but the terrible UI made me give up.
And lastly, there is the camera movement... simply put, it's crap.
In PewPew and all the other shooters previously mentioned, the camera is centered on the ship.
An option that could work (it's a possibility, I haven't tried it) would be to have the camera slightly ahead of the ship, that way you can see more of where you are going.
But in Isotope, it's the freaking opposite! The camera is always late. You do not see where you are going!! Just centering the camera (which requires less work...) would work better FFS.
It's a damn shame because there seems to be a lot of content, and the graphics aren't to bad... but really at the moment it's not fun.
geoFighter is pretty enjoyable. Again, there are different weapon but you end up always using the same. The ennemies are pretty varied and the graphics are good, but the maniability is average, I think it's in part because you can't see enough of the field. Also, the difficulty increases a bit to quickly, but it might just be me.
Worth its price.
I also bought Abstract War 2.0, and the graphics look really cool, but unfortunately it does not function on my iPod OS 2.1 :D
I haven't yet upgraded to make sure PewPew 2 will work on old iPods :)
By the way, it does not look like I am going to be able to release PewPew 2 before the end of the March, but April seems do-able.

If you're wanting something that plays a bit differently, but in the geometry wars styling (certainly visually), maybe I can sneak in Spirit as a potential? ;)
1.1 is awaiting review now:

pewpew is great and very slick, controls really well, a complete must as it's free. Critical Wave is cool too, as is tilt to live (although I know that's starting to differ gameplay wise, as my game also does).
