Well, the moderators are volunteers and we appreciate the time they're able to devote to the site. Understandably, no one is going to be around 24/7 to instantly respond to thread reports. I think a great solution would be to stick the Minigore, Pocket God and Eliminate topics in a "senior members only" sub-forum. Then all the morons and kiddies will have to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion before they can get in... hopefully learning a thing or two about forum etiquette along the way. It'll never happen (they'd probably spam us to hell), but it'd be nice.

No worries, I have the unique perspective of running a website and a forum so I understand what it is like to be both friend and "boss." When I see instances like like this I can't help but want to help out as I come here every day to check on iPhone games/reviews and the like. I consider this one of the better sites out there for iPhone gaming reviews and I appreciate the work done on the blog, while the forum seemingly and judging by this thread has taken a turn for the worst, rest assured its not driving at least one person away.

Sorry not taking this off topic, but perhaps instead of a thread like this, members who might be lumped into that "senior TA group" should be given a little more authority to handle situations as they arise. I don't know how many moderators there are here or how quickly those that are here are able to respond to posts that require moderation but perhaps adding some additional staff could be helpful. If only to let those people remove posts that aren't contributory, inflammatory or the like.

Well thats why there are moderators who are entrusted to oversee those who might members of my proposed, "guardian squad" or something of that nature. Abuse of power must be managed and carefully, on my forums I have more moderators than normal because I try and choose those members who create a balance, those whose interests allow them to spend more time into various topics etc...

When it's a 1-on-1 feud the ignore feature is very useful, but in this case it's a whole group of people being annoyed by one guy. It shouldn't be a case of getting each of those people to add him to their ignore list, he should just be dealt with accordingly.

This is a tough one. I already mentioned in the BA thread that I think the general maturity level has lowered, but I guess I understand that a lot of the young'uns are going to be attracted to a site like this. My issues are that:

a) This isn't a Nintendo DS forum where the hardware costs ~$100 and you would expect many kids to have it...therefore I get REALLY annoyed with the constant, "OMG it's too expensive, can I have a promo code" posts. You have a luxury item. Put up or shut up. Stop expecting quality for $.99 when you (or mom and pops) spend hundreds on the device.

b) Excepting non-English speakers, LEARN TO SPELL! I'm sorry, I'm going to call him out: iphonecarjackfan or whatever his name is...his posts actually wound my soul. Some of his posts made me want to physically destroy something.

c) For purely selfish reasons, one of the things that drew me to this forum was the maturity level of many of the posters, and how they could have very intellectual discussions one moment, while the next moment posting something goofy and sarcastically inane. I suppose that I'm just seeing less of the obvious "satiric" immature posts, and more genuinely flat out stupid comments. We have obviously had our "pet" members who were capable of incredible stupidity, but many of those were able to be tolerated, and even begrudgingly accepted after a time. Now, it seems that people are joining with the sole purpose of acting as juvenile as possible, and some of these members are driving away valuable, contributing members.

Well, enough of my elitist, self-serving rant. I am aware that I am as capable as any of juvenile, purile, sophomoric posts. I am also, however, capable of writing "purile" and "sophomoric" without use of a thesaurus, and can throw out a "Cop Rock" or "Manimal" reference with the best of them. I'm out like Billy Mays.

I agree, and couldn't have said it better myself. Unfortunately I have noticed that the very members that drew me here, have been posting less frequently. It's no fun being sarcastic, when the general populace reading said post, fail to grasp the true intent. Still, I find a good laugh or two.
