Are there very many girls who participate in the TA forums? The only reason I'm bringing this up is because I constantly get called "dude" and I'm starting to feel like the only girl here. I know that girls are probably in the minority, but it will make me feel better knowing I'm not the only one on here :)

Girls should add "Im a girl to their sig" to get identified
How come no one has mass an everydaynormalgirl profile? :-)

It could be a girl."
I guess there are more guys on the forums, but still...
There should be a Gender field you can fill out when registering, which shows up with every post (like your post count, title, member name, etc.).

We need more chicks in these forums. Furthermore, all chicks should have avatars showcasing themselves in a sexy pose. Kinda like what Blake has, but you know, with chicks' pictures in them...

Dude, that sucks.

Some of us just use "dude" all the time!

Hi jecebn, don't feel too lonely. There are a few of us around the forums! And I suspect that there are many more lurking out there reading the forums but who haven't joined up yet.

I think "dude" is often used more as a general way of talking rather than as a reference to gender.

Of course if you don't want to be refered to as "dude" then maybe change your forum name to one that would be considered clearly female. For example there are other posters here called fpugirl and mavis. And then there is another poster who has added a line to her signature that lets everyone know that she is just a girl with an unhealthy attachment to her ipod (or something along those lines). So you can always add a line to your signature. Or you could start a social group for female forum members as Rocketman919 suggested.

I don't think highlighting someones gender is important in a gaming forum. All that matters is the game. I call my girlfriend dude.

See, all of the female posters, I can usually not tell. I never knew that you were a girl. Not insulting or anything, but there was nothing in your posts to indicate either way.

I really wish there was a way to tell a members gender. I am ashamed to admit that I automatically assume I am replying to a male member, and I shouldn't. It would be nice if we could have a gender symbol in our info by our location, posts etc (as spmwinkel suggested).

I do too. I'm not sexist or anything, but on most non-tech related forums, the girls are quite obvious, or have VERY feminine names. On here, everyone is very intelligent, and everything, so there is very little way to tell.

Just putting that out there, as everyone is thinking it, but nobody wants to speak. Just usually the girls go very off topic, and talk about other things. But not on here, yet.

Hahahahaha. Are they clean and articulate as well? ;)

That's a great lead-in to my point - the women on here know that they are in a majority-male environment. Some of them don't mind being identified as women, and some want to stay incognito. Which is why I'm against having a gender identifier - definitely not a required one. The people who want to be identified can do so, or they can choose not to.

For what it's worth, I'm a dudette, although I don't mind being called a dude. At this point, that's a gender-neutral title to me.

Yes that's what I was thinking. Just like your location, you can opt to enter your info, but are not obliged to do so.

Well I'm a 35 year old (although I am a male- at least most of the time), and I am sure there are plenty of others around the same age. It's not just teens who like apps/games. It's nice to have you here.

Yeah, "dude" really is gender neutral in many of the posts on this forum. I personally wouldn't want to see a required gender identifier. I usually don't fill my gender out on forms, etc unless it is a legal requirement. It's not that it is a secret, it's just that I don't see it as all that important.

If brewstermax and spmwinkel are surprised I am a female then they might be even more surprised that I am an "older woman". You don't need to feel so alone Kim. I'm 35 and heading fast for 40! It's good to know that there are some older women around here too.

Glad you don't think "it's" old! Because to be honest, I sometimes feel very old around these forums. Particularly when people talk about games they like on their Playstations, etc. I skipped all that. I would play a few games on the computer but that was it really. When I think about how exciting I've been finding playing games on my iPhone and then I realise that at times that the excitement is similar to how I felt when my two brothers and I got our Commodore 64, and we would play games for hours and hours and hours, all those years ago. Well it makes me feel very, very old! But then the next game comes along and I soon stop feeling so old. :D

Even so, I'm often referred to as "he" in forums, especially when I talk tech. ;) Being the co-founder of a game-development company definitely puts me in the gender-minority right now, but it'll be really fun when I hit it big and all the news writers want to talk about the chick who made a quarter-mill in 2 weeks... :) - fairlady

By the way, there are already a few women who have done really well. Eliza Block of 2 Across comes to mind:

Thanks. Glad you like the pics, I'll be adding some more this week (but nothing as surreal as the puffer fish). I love digital cameras. I can take lots of photos and get one or two that come out well without it costing a small fortune in film, processing and printing. The puffer fish does look like a monster from another planet. A freakish monster. I took lots of photos of it and those were the best two. Putting the camera on the sand to take the photos gave the best results.

I agree! I am a newbie to TA and it's great to know that I am not alone on here! My name is Candy but even though it's in my username, people still say "dude" or in a reply "that guy" or something. lol.

I'm happy to be here! I've been a longtime gamer since back in the day. I don't play as many games as I would like because I have more responsibility, bills, etc but at least I have my beloved new Ipod Touch!

Hello to all my fellow sisters on TA! :):D

Lolz, just had to quote this. Yes, everyone, we are enthusiasts of IPOD/ITOUCH games ONLY. No Iphone games for you guys.
And I think that this thread should be appropriately titled "Females on TA?" due to the fact that most of the "girls" on here are over 25.

I just think of people on the forums as just people. No age, no gender, just people. It simplifies things a bit. Except the he/she situations. I have no way around that :p

Ok. I'm confused. So what's the age majority? Or does that not matter *chuckles nervously*

Oh, and awesome to have chicks on the forums. Spices things up a bit (and things need spicing 'round here. pablo and IBITF just aren't doing it :D)

Since some guys make pretend they are girls online (Why they do this is beyond anything I can think of), I wonder if some guy here will make up a female profile? I sure hope not.

I think the other girls would agree, a lot of "fake" girls are very much noticable as soon as they say something. It's so obvious
