Need help with spam in my Forums. what can i do about this

I was trying to google something about this but with no avail. Sorry to bother but really need some help with this.

You can ban people or temp ban them for a week or so to learn there leason or warm them about getting banned. You will get more people visting the site from all the bans or temp bans but more people will stay because there is not many spam.

Those're bots. Delete 'em. Even if they're actual humans, they've not at the forums for the content. Delete 'em anyways.

If you keep getting into a temp ban you have not learned you lesson.

Banning won't work, because they're mindless spambots. Visit the forums or help section of your forum's software for updates and tips. Look into turning guest posting "off" and see what other measures other people using the same forum software use. There are many ways to fight the spambots. You might need to install a mod or hack; depends on your forum's software.
