Ok, I get all of the main stuff, with Quickpwn and everything. I understand that, but before redsn0w drops, I will just lay this out here. Is there anything that I need to know before I jailbreak? Should I delete all of my apps off, as I have heard that you are supposed to do? If I do, can I get my save data back? I want to jailbreak whenever redsn0w gets here, but not if it deletes all of my game data. Help?

you are supposed to delete all of your apps and then jailbreak, and yes, you will lose all of your save data.

That is stupid. Isn't there anyway to save the data? I'm sure that somebody has a workaround.

There is no workaround. Sucks!

Well, then do the benefits outweigh this downfall. Or is it possible for them to make Quickpwn to go around the apps? I don't want to lose the save data of ~100 games and apps. Then go back and reselect them from my Library. I'm beginning to reconsider.

Sync your iPod with iTunes so that you can get a backup of all of your data. Then, restore your iPod. When it asks you the question if you want to set it up as a new iPod or restore to the backup, that is when you want to jailbreak the iPod. When it is finished jailbreaking, then select the option to restore to the backup that you just created. I'm pretty sure that will keep all of your app data and leave you with a jailbroken iPod.

Thanks :D. I'll try that. I may ask some Klondike about that, and see if I can find any info online.

Backing up your apps will not keep the save data.

I asked on iPTF, and here's all I got. They think that redsn0w will use a different method that may allow you to keep your apps. I hope so. For the link (http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131866)

Yea I had no idea what people were talking about here, you will not have to delete all your apps first or any nonesene like that. It will prolly be a couple days still anyway, and all the info you need will be on the Dev Team's blog.

So you essentially have to restore your iPod and then jailbreak right?
Aw damit, I will have to write down all the words I have found in Textropolis then :'(

i dont know about the ipod touch, but i had the iphone 2g and then bought the iphone 3g. i jailbroke it, unlocked it and then synced it with my computer. it asked me if i wanted it to restore everything from my previous backup of my iphone 2g and i said yes. after it was done, everything was back and i had all my saved data on my 3g. hope this is the same for the ipod touch. :D

When i got my 3G, i jailbroke it, and when i synced it with itunes, it put all my saved data on the new iphone 3g. Thats why you always have to wait for your phone or itouch to "back up" before it syncs all your new apps or songs or whatever.

You lose all your saved data and there is now way that I know of to get around it. This might just be me but I'd rather have all the customization options and other things that come from jailbreaking than some saved data.

That is you. I could probably live, but what would happen if you, say tried to jailbreak with apps on the device?
