After the fun that came down with the app Rate My Kiss, I thought that we should follow in Dorfdad's bagged footsteps and take one for the team. This would involve picking up a team that none of us really wants, but we're so intrigued by it that we have to know how it plays (Tapping the Dead might have been a qualifier for me).

I would like to see who would step up and be a member of the TOFTT (Take One For The Team) Team... And, yes, I realize that technically that would mean that the word "team" is used back to back. But that adds to the strangeness of the the group.

So if you're interested you can sign up and agree to at some point TOFTT on a game if there is enough demand from the team. These should be for games that are in the lower price range so that nobody feels like they're obligated to shell out a bunch of money on a crappy app just to TOFTT.

The person would then make sure that a full review of the game is put out for the rest of us to see. Where possible a video would be made, but it'll be hard to follow in the wake of the Masked Kisser. Then we would try to go through the whole TOFTT Team before someone has to endure the ordeal a second time.

So who will stand up and TOFTT? I put my hat in the ring and stand ready to do my part for the good of all TouchArcade.

Okay... it sounds like we have some TOFTT'ers out there. Now we just have to see how to make it work. I'm thinking that it can happen just like the "Rate My Kiss" thread that started the whole thing.

Once a game comes out that is in the category of "No way do I think I really want this, but, man, I'm really curious about what it's like" a thread will start and ask for TOFTT's help. A member can then step up in the thread and call the game. They'll do the review and give everyone the rundown, saving the rest o us, but also helping our curiosity.

Keep in mind, you don't have to do this... it's purely a volunteer type of thing. If you want to be a TOFTT'er just watch for the threads and see when the call come out. If you feel it's a mission for you just let everyone on the thread know that you're TOFTT'ing the game and they'll know to expect a review from you. If it's not one for you, just wait until another one comes along.

And just to let Dorfdad know... after the review I got the game and my wife and I had a great laugh rating the kisses... but went for our own rating system later. That was all due to the TOFTT. I never would have gotten the game (not that I'll play it a lot) without the rave first member of TOFTT!

Hey, Quickwit, how about a social group for TOFTT, if you are really serious about this. And I don't want to be a member. You can create one here (forums.toucharcade.com/group.php) It would be the best way. I'm not buying crapps, supporting the devs, when the games obviously suck. Count me out.

Sure... we can form a social group... but it's really about being the one's that look into the apps for people. None of us really want to buy/support crap app devs... but every once in a while there's an app that may or may not be crap and people are slow to pull the trigger. A TOFTT'er can see if it's worth it or not. We can see where this goes.

But it would also be cool to have Agents of TOFTT on the App Store that can call BS on games that are just crap so that someone going to the store can see that it's been TOFTT'd and called out, hopefully meaning that they'll stay away from something that should never have seen the light of day to begin with.

This is really in answer to "Rate My Kiss". All of us looked at it and thought, WTF. We wanted to know what this app was, but we didn't think we'd ever know because we wouldn't take the plunge. Dorfdad turned it into something very fun. I'm hoping that maybe we can do this again... If not, TOFTT will fade away.

And remember, being an Agent of TOFTT is not only volunteer, it's also something that can be done in various ways. Posting warnings about others who have tried this game can also be a way to TOFTT,

Okay... Group started. Not sure if it will do much but it's there.

Just remember, whether you buy apps or not to TOFTT, if you put a review up on the app store for a game that isn't very good and you want to warn people, let them know that you're and Agent of TOFTT and that you "Took One For The Team". Who knows, maybe after a while people will come to look for TOFTT.

Seems like Dorfdad could even have a regular feature on his site from Agents of TOFTT.

That's only one person does it and tell everyone if it actually is crap or not. That way a bunch of us don't go out and buy it if it is really crap. So if it's worth it then it will get the sales it needs. Otherwise the developers won't get our money if it sucks. One sale for them is not worth it and motivating them to make mroe if we only have one person buy it to test it out....

One dollar in the devs hands won't make them rich. If the game is truly bad, our reviews may put LESS money in their pockets by exposing them as such.

Dorfdad posted his review on his 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩.com site, and YouTube.

In the end, at least for me, it's just for fun.

Ok, I HAD to buy it, I just thought it was to great not to be bought :D

here are my thoughts, you have to get the finger in the whole and it makes a sounds. (pretty disgusting I know, but fun nonetheless) then my ipod crashed soooo, I'll edit and put more stuff in here later.;)

EDIT: the challenge is getting inside the nostril. then all you have to do is flick, you have 30 seconds to get rid of your red/yellow/green treasure and the it gives you points which are then added to a local highscore list. If I get a camera the next couple of days I'll film it for you guys
Current highscore: 5574
I have found that a scraping movement on the side of the nostril helps for best results in getting stuff out quicker.

Glad to see the idea of TOFTT'ing is alive and well. I am now going to spread the love for TOFTT to another site (one that I can't name or I'll be banned) so if you find me that would cool to have some company. I'll still be around here a bit but I won't be quite as active on the forums as I once was... It's a shame. But maybe this way TOFTT will grow and be stronger. Make sure to tell people about TOFTT when you do reviews on the appstore.
