Looking back at the games I've made so far, I've realised that I've never actually really liked any of them. :(
I want to make a really good game, so I want to ask all you guys, what kind of game genre you like the most.
Vote in the poll above. :)
Cheers,
Koh Jing Yu

I like anything that makes me think, so, for me, strategy.

My favorites are the quick-to-pick-up-and-put-down time wasters...like all the popcap games and doodlejump

I picked strategy, but I was really surprised that Role-Playing wasn't an available choice.

Action, Adventure, Puzzle, Pickup and Play/Arcade, Tower Defense. All good.

I only put those that weren't too hard to make (school is reopening :(), but role playing elements are a must in any game, to me. :)

I like RPGs most, as well as tower defense games lately.
You really should have added role playing games to the list. ;)
Make a decent pole playing game with a challenging turn based combat system and you'll be more than successful with that.

I like all genres (if its a good game).
However I prefer games that are specific to the iPhone/touch like Labyrinth and Sway rather than ported over games by Gameloft/EA (Crash Kart, Fifa 10 etc.). But i guess you wouldn't call this a 'genre'

It depends on the system. On the PC it would be strategy. Nothing on the iphone can comes close, so I have to pick RPG.

I'm a casual gamer and it took me a while figuring out what works for me.
Games with easy controls and fun to play.
Like Doodle Jump, simple yet challenging, easy to pick up, hard to put down.

I'm guessing I'll be going with pick-up-to-play kinda games.
So...What game can I make that would blow your minds? :)

Something with big boo..... wait. You're 14, right? Errr....
If I could choose, I'd like to see a turn based RPG or a new challenging TD game. How about a TD game that fits your culture? There are so many possibilities.

I love TDs, and I plan on creating one someday. Perhaps during my next school holidays. :)
Turned based RPG? You mean like that online game that was popular a while back...BattleOn?

As long as it's fun to play with smooth controls.
Good luck !

No, more like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest 8 - a nice RPG with turn based combat action.
That's something we are really missing. Only examples on the iDevices are Vay, Yipe 5 and Elven Chronicles.

A little too much for one guy to handle, a Final Fantasy clone. :)
I'm currently making a nice arcade, pick-up-and-play game though. Any ideas/comments about what it must include?

Rhythm here, though I love RPGs if they're good.
Am I the only one yet with rhythm games? :O

I like puzzle games, platformers, and pick up and play games with randomized levels. My absolute favorite game genre though is puzzle platformers!

RPG/Strategy/Adventure. I like a good blend of them all when/if possible.

Proper RPG, with new stuff to unlock (besides new dialogue and new clothing) as the game progresses throughout the entire game. Also a strategy game similar or clone to Fire Emblem would be nice.
The Tales series on iPhone would be dream come true. @@
My favourite genre is definitely FPS or survival horror games. But only on consoles. Actually I have bought plenty of FPS on the 3Gs (SandStorm and NOVA the latest worth mentioning), but then I don't have enough time to play them. On the iPhone the games I play the most are puzzle games (Lumines still ranks among my favs), or games like Labyrinth (the 2nd is one of the best games EVER to come out IMHO), Flight Control (you have to love it) and The Poet (can't stop playing it and posting sentences on my FaceBook!!).

Platformers, unique iPhone only games (Eliss, Sway, Labyrinth 2D), RTS (the screen is perfect for this, C&C is cumbersome on my Mac), and if the feels right, racers.

I hit other since you don't have RPG up there, and that's my favorite. My other favorites are in this order:
-Adventure
-Action and Action/Adventure
-FPS
Oh yeah, I forgot Survival Horror games. Gotta love 'em.

Didn't you reply with the same words to the other thread where I posted this? And I replied with some common sense which you seem not to get?
I'll say it again: Did I say it was going to happen? Next time try to actually read ffs.
Guess some people never learn, or learn and forget extremely fast, or simply loves to pick on my posts.

Actually the games I play the longest are the word games (Bookworm, Textropolis). For one thing, neither are timed. The other benefit is that you can play cooperatively with your significant other.
