Ok i have a first gen ipod and it is read as that on itunes but on my comp it is not read, it is read as a camera due to the photos, i have deleted the photos, restarted my ipod/comp multiple times and still nothing..... any ideas, and again i am sorry if this is against the rules but i have no where else to turn

iPods aren't used as external storage (unless you get an app that makes it work). Your using XP, it just narrows it down to the device being a camera. Just going to have to put up with it I guess. Or go to Vista.. or OS X (much better choice).

Just ignore the message. As long as it shows up in iTunes the message doesn't matter. My computer does the same thing, I just close the box.
