So I was playing an online game today on my ipod touch and someone told me that the people who are jailbroken are the ones getting disconnected all the time. Is this true? How could it be possible, even with a purchased version of the game? Does jailbreaking do anything that could cause network issues over wifi?

thanks

Jailbreaking itself, NO. But if someone is stupid enough to install every jailbreak-only program that he finds interesting, there are possibilities which can cause problems (such disconnecting internet).
Don't install everything you see in Cydia/Rock if you don't need it or if you aren't 100000% sure it can't harm (or slow down) your device.

Those two are main points of my post. They are main reasons why somebodys device is slow. WB can't cause Wi-Fi issues, but SBS has possibility, because it can toogle Wi-Fi on or off. Those two (in order to run) install PreferenceLoader which loads them. Also MobileSubstrate is there so your device will lose precious power/memory to keep them running in background.

A. I've never been disconnected and my iPod is jailbroken.

B. Perhaps your friend meant pirated apps when he talked about jailbroken iPhones..?

no the application is not cracked, it's the paid version only the ipod touch is cracked

also i don't see how sbsettings would do this just because it has a wifi toggle

OK, I didn't know you were having problems, I just thought you were worried because of what a friend said. How often do you get disconnected? What router and game do you use?

If you did a jail break with Blackra1n - this has been known to be a common problem. I have not heard of it getting disconnected, but there are a lot of topics about wireless not working properly initially - it happened to me as well.

I can't remember exactly the fix - you should google it, or go to the modmyi.com website

But, I think that you just reset the internet connection, turn the phone off and back on, and then re - do the wireless.

Fixed it for me, and I only had the problem once. Again, there are reports of this happening to people many more times then once as well. I think that redsn0w does not have this problem, you might want to consider jail breaking with it. Also, if you have a Mac - the quickpwn program seems to be very versatile. Good luck.

Incompatability and glitches are a problem with jailbreaking. If it's upsetting you that much then don't JB the device, it's up to you. I hear that Apple might start implementing more conflicts for jailbroken devices soon. Meaning these types of issues will happen more often because of anti-hacking firmware/hardware.

A guy I know at the local Apple store said he heard the new iphone coming out will let apple know when someone has hacked/jailbroken their device and will cripple the device in as-of-yet unknown ways. it's like counter-hacking, lol

who knows, good luck man
