View Full Version : SF IV - We need MORE characters, WI-FI, as well as...

Seriously though, this game demands Wi-Fi !!

I also want to see like 8 more characters! I'll pay $5 DLC for everything I just mentioned...

This game was made for the touch screen.. I personally am not missing Med/Low attack, its nice playing a streamlined SF IV.

Hmm, that's a tall order. I'm wondering if Capcom only included 8 characters due to limitations, or just because they thought that was enough. Either way those things would be awesome.

Depends on your likings.
Btw., this question was answered a few times in the main SF IV thread.
Two forum member compared both games very precisely - which one's better in what and where the differences are.

As soon as I have some spare time, I'll serve you the link on a silver plate... ;)

The way I understand it, Gameloft will make Street Fighter Alpha, meaning a different team. This team will keep working on this, and I believe they plan to add more characters via DLC.

Actually, the real answer is "It's a $10.00 game." Everything that Mr. Hardcore listed above (except for the physical buttons, of course) is accomplishable on an iPhone 3Gs / iPod Touch 3rd Gen. But not for $10.00 bucks.

picked up Ryu for third time and finished all 7 levels in 8:45 mins then immediately the game shows a new video from fighting between Juri (yeah totally new on SF4) Chun Li and Cammy

but video is not saved :( i really like it pretty sexy girls

Im finding hard to be a nice challenge, finally lost a few fights.. I hope Grueling really sets up the bar, my class was out for like 50 minutes today and this was pure entertainment the whole time...

definitely one of my favorite iPhone games of all time.. I look forward to see what Gameloft does, but I really like the 'clay-models' of this game, allows lots of detail and smoothness, unlike the chunky 3D model graphics

Stop being so ungrateful for such a great game!!! For just ten dollars, your getting a fab fighting game, and all you do is ask for more!!! Seriously, you guys are being unbelieveably greedy--this is a GREAT game....granted it's not perfect, but then which game is??(barring space miner and tilt to live). Of course you can put in new additions-but the current game is WELL worth the 10 buck price tag, and there really is nothing to complain about. Anything extra would have been a bonus, a treat

Gamers are really spoiled nowadays. And the surprising part is that it's not only the pirates!

People pay 10 bucks for a game and want it to be like a $40, $50 PSP game... some even compare it to a $60 PS3, 360 game! I bet if this game had the whole cast and cost $20 people would be complaining about the price and saying the file took too long to download.

When i was a kid i saved my allowance for over a month to buy a cart like Street Fighter 2 or Streets of Rage 2, and i would play it for 10, 18 months... even two years straight (in all the years i had a Genesis i bought only 5 or 6 games... not because i was too poor, but because i really played the games).

Nowadays people buy a game one day, then the next day they are already saying they don't have anything else to do?!? In a fighting game? Really? A genre where most people in 2010 are still enjoying SSF2T, SF3, KOF '98?

he PMD this too me, he just worded it wrong..i had asked him the same thing you did..there is nothing you unlock if you get s in everything... I had said in a post that i easily beat the game in under 10 mins with ken.... and i wonder if you unlock anything cause usually you unlock characters in SF after you beat it....

and he said play the dojo mode (cause its not so easy)

and i did see that akuma was gonna be added in a DLC, i think zangief would be hard to add with the button setup how would you do the spinning lariats, i guess you could use sp button but i dont think that work properly they would need to add a 3p/3k button or something...

Feedback isn't whining, please leave your negativity at the door.. (though you could call it begging :p)

Considering this is an iPhone exclusive right now, and its PSP port is being 'considered' (i bet releasing a game on the app store vs the PSP hassle is jawdropping) I see them tweaking it and more updates, if it really turns into a cash cow, why not milk it eh?

As a side note: Ken is the NOOB char, and I love Dhalsim but he is somewhat of a noob char as well...

GTA Chinatown was a portable game original, and developed for a platform that is less powered than the iDevice. SFIV/iPhone is an original version of the game.

I believe you would call that playing with another player basically. So, in the menu, there's a little option called VERSUS under SOLO mode. Click that and have another person with SF4 with Bluetooth enabled, and there you go. BASIC Multiplayer.

And for those of you who want to boycott the game to make the developers add more stuff, what are you thinking? Stuff like this requires money. If we all boycott it, there's no money. So that's just illogical thinking.

Also, a $10 game for the iPhone is completely justified compared to a $40 PSP game. The reasons for this is because:
1) There is a HUGE consumer base with the number of iPhones and iPods out there and the iPad coming soon.
2) Consoles and computer games and the (old) PSP all requires a disc, cartridge, or hardware of some sort. That adds to the cost of production. Digital distribution only requires the developer to create one copy and then post it to the App Store and so they cost of development is the only cost which takes a lot off of the developers so they are then able to lower the price point considerably since a big game like this is bound to sell a lot (and it is since it's the top grossing app as of right now).
3) Updates and such are relatively simple with the App Store system. And the inclusion of DLC makes it a lot easier for the developers. They don't have to release a brand new game and I know that this is implemented by a lot of consoles already but it's a great and useful feature.

The game is already great for its price. Every single person who bought it knew what they were getting into when they bought the game so don't whine and complain about the number of characters and no Wi-Fi. I mean, we all want Wi-Fi and more characters but ALL of us are sick and tired of every single troll and whatnot complaining about it. WE GET IT. You made your point. Now there's the close button in the top left/right of your screen.

i think console game companies need to understand the business model of idevice well first. They cannot think like what they did for consoles. they think console games on iDevice platform will lose money if they offer full content. and in opposite if they make a true console port version, it should set as standard for iDevice gaming. They are still very reserved in this area because now there is no serious competition yet.

with such a large market, there is no formula to say that iDevice cannot have full console contents. Games cannot be compare this way. In fact i believe if they put the actual SF4 console game in iphone, it will be a mega hit and even break sales record for Capcom.

I can see that Capcom is using iDevice to promote the full console game which is a good thing for their business strategy. All casual gamers like us have some peeks at it and this is fun enough.

i heard that iphone memory have limitation for them to port more characters so we may not see any updates at all.

Maniacfive

they think console games on iDevice platform will lose money if they offer full content.

Wow.

Full content on an iDevice. Maybe I misunderstood, but I consider SFIV to be pretty damn well full content quality on an iDevice. SFIV on xbox is what? a 4Gb DVD? I will buy whatever they sell as DLC for this bringing it closer to 'full console', but as it stands? Wow. I have friends I've shown SFIV to who would usually baulk at paying more than £1.79 for a game saying. "Wow! that's like the xbox! how much? £6? Hmmm not so bad"

This game is is epic win. Yeah its less than the XBOX or PS3 contain. but its awesome! and I seriously have to wonder about the people who are complaining they've beat it too easily already. try putting the CPU difficulty up to 4 stars, then play it again.

This is the first game I've ever been able to show off to friends without iPhones and have them go, WOW! that's actually pretty awesome.

Yep, the interview is here: http://www.tuaw.com/2010/03/10/gdc-2010-interview-with-street-fighter-iv-producer-takeshi-tazu/

On the other hand, there's this interesting post:Yoshinori Ono and Takeshi Tezuka were at the San Francisco Apple Store today, showing off SFIV for the iPhone. I didn't get to go, but my boyfriend went, and here's his report about previously unconfirmed rumors:

There was a lot of stuff they wanted to include, but they ran out of time, as the game had a set release date. However there WILL be updates.

There will be both free and paid updates, including extra costumes and character packs. Akuma will be included as a downloadable character.

The game is selling very well already, so it's very possible they will be releasing Super Street Fighter IV as a separate app. Someone in the audience asked about Marvel vs. Capcom, and it wasn't ruled out (but don't hold your breath).

So it sounds like the game is doing very well, and Capcom is throwing all the support they can on this game!

Guys, here's an interesting interview with SF4's (iPhone) producer Takeshi Tezuka from Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5494547/capcom-arcade-gamers-and-iphone-gamers-are-very-similar).

Here's some of the more important details:

Regarding online multiplayer:
The game includes local Bluetooth multiplayer support, but no online gameplay, something that Tezuka told me was "impossible" to implement.

"This is a fighting game," he said. "We don't want any latencies or delays, so we didn't want to implement online because of that."

Regarding the future, DLC etc:
While the Street Fighter IV just hit the iPhone last week, and has already landed on the top ten charts for gaming, Capcom is already considering future plans for both the game and, potentially, other fighting titles for the iPhone.

He told me that Capcom already have plans for downloadable content for Street Fighter IV iPhone, but nothing is yet set in stone. He also said that if this game sells well enough it's possible that the publisher could start looking at their popular Versus series of games for the next title they might bring to the iPhone.

Regarding SSF4 not being the iphone version:
"We couldn't release Super Street Fighter IV before the console version because (Super Street Fighter IV Producer Yoshinori) Ono is going to get annoyed," he said. "At some point, though, it would be very interesting if we could release the console version and the iPhone version at the same time."

Also if you listen to the latest podcast from TouchGen (http://www.touchgen.net/touchgen-unleashed-episode-53), they interviewed him and he says some similar stuff to this.

it's still a great game with a lengthy campaign. tell one of ur family members to download the game and battle them over bluetooth. dont be greeedy-it's only 10 dollars. It's cheaper than going to a 3D movie, and u r getting waaay more entertainment from it.

Greed doesnt even enter into this, its more like a taste preference. I thought SFII was cool back in the 90s but when i didnt have anyone to play multiplayer with, it got boring fast. The only fighting game i ever really enjoyed for its own sake was Soul Calibur 3. I want to enjoy this game, but im not sure i can get much out of it without multiplayer..

He told me that Capcom already have plans for downloadable content for Street Fighter IV iPhone, but nothing is yet set in stone. He also said that if this game sells well enough it's possible that the publisher could start looking at their popular Versus series of games for the next title they might bring to the iPhone.

If they bring Marvel Vs Capcom 2 I will cry tears of joy. Heck, if they wanted to, with their current graphics standards they could possibly even port Tatsunoko Vs Capcom.

With all respect, greed is a major factor in this. You have got a GREAT game, with hours of beat-em-up gameplay on a 3.5 inch screen for the price of a salad...and you want more? I understand that multiplayer is a big part of a gaming experience for you, but surely there is enough in this game to make it worth the price? Asking more for this price does in fact qualify as greed my friend

While i agree with you that it is a pretty dang good game, if your into this kind of thing, i think you misunderstood one of my points. I never considered multiplayer a big part of my personal gaming experience. I just realize that for genres like fighting games and FPSes, two things i dont usually enjoy, multiplayer is a big part of what makes it fun. Normally i steer clear of these games, and stick to RPGs and strategy, but lately with all the online stuff ive been trying to expand my limits a little..

"We couldn't release Super Street Fighter IV before the console version because (Super Street Fighter IV Producer Yoshinori) Ono is going to get annoyed," he said. "At some point, though, it would be very interesting if we could release the console version and the iPhone version at the same time."

So why don't you wait for another month or two and release SSF IV instead? We can wait!

Oh, I know. Because...
You want to double dip!
