It's clear that there are a lot of big iPad games coming down the line, so we've opened this iPad specific upcoming game section to focus on them in the lead up to the iPad launch.

Basically, rules are the same as the Upcoming iPhone Games section but for iPad specific games.

Will a little effort they can make them universal (in some cases) so that one purchase recognizes the device and uploads the appropriate version of the app.

Also, there will be an ipad only app store, so this offers devs a chance to have their brand better noticed than it otherwise would in the iphone/IPT app store. Thus, even if there are fewer ipad purchases, their company gets higher profile effective advertising, which may increase their iphone/IPT app sales.

i splurged a bit and got the 32 gig one because i think each app will be bigger in size

but i didn't want to spend the money on a 64 gig because i may want to upgrade to version two..

but yeah, there are so many games, that don't really work, atleast not without a lot of effort on the iphone, that would be amazing on the ipad

This link (http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=49317) might help. As you can see from the photo, it's a bit easier to hold and manipulate than one might think.

The controls in Coverfire are presented as two virtual D-Pads. In reality, they're partway between a D-Pad and Thumbstick. You can tap on a given direction to activate the control, or you can hold the screen and slide around to the appropriate direction.

I have done numerous simulations with this control scheme. It has proven to be comfortable, accurate, and responsive. My aim is to challenge players with the game, not challenge them with the controls.

Due to this commitment, Coverfire won't come out until *after* the hardware release. I want the opportunity to tune the controls for the most comfortable experience possible.

Developers will likely work on both. Right now there is a much better chance of someone seeing your game on the iPad than the iPhone. I know our game came out on the day when Apple released 1400 apps of which 300 were games. Hard to get noticed in a monsoon like that :) ipad is a second chance for us smaller devs who didn't get in on the iPhone gold rush..... at least we hope it is!

PopCap aren't going to be letting Apple use a fictitious product of their for testing, trust me.

It is curious though that Firemint says they are "working on Real racing HD", whereas it is already listed in the ipad app store. Notably, it dropped off (or appeared on) the "top paid revenue" list between #22, #23 postings above.

I still can't say much about this, but you may have seen some posts about this so I thought I'd drop in and give the official word: yes, we are working on Real Racing HD for iPad, and yes, it will be awesome

I know that my fave game, Orbital is coming to the iPad as they said so on their Facebook page, but it's not on the upcoming games list yet.

I can't wait til Saturday. The iPad just brings so many possibilities for games. I noticed that Boggle is on the game list. As a fan (and almost impossible to beat) I can see the iPad being large enough for a group to play around a table and write down words the old fashioned way - with a pen and paper. There should be a mode for this with a built in timer. I guess we could play it like that either way, just resetting the board.

I also have seen that Gameprom is bringing "The Pinball" with their 3 tables (Wild West, The Deep and the Jungle Style) in one app. I love that idea. Has anyone heard if Cowboy Rodeo is bringing Pinball Dreams/Pinball Fantasies to the larger format? That would be perfect.

One app that my family is really enjoying is the new BallFallDown app by FlatPack Interactive. It is an Entertainment App that allows users to take an empty iPad screen -"board"- and construct thier own interactive game. You can make all sorts of things including a pinball machines. Although probably built for kids, my husband and I have spent hours playing with this app after the kids of put up the iPad and went to bed.

It is free in iTunes. You guys can try it too and experience what I mean.

I'd like to share news that Hard Rock Racing is also coming to the iPad 2 (beside the Mac version). We plan to submit the game by the end of the month. Main development is completed and we only add now more input control methods to the game. So far virtual joysticks and Fling controllers are supported. We also want to add to the final release stereoscopic 3D using Grilli3d(.com). The game support 40+ single- and multiplayer tracks in a huge 3D virtual city. Main goal is to win races by bombing other players from the track using homing missiles and proximity mines.

GAMEPLAY AND FEATURES:
The player controls a gun which is mounted on a rail system using the help of touch-pads. In addition, a sophisticated operating system offers a high degree of flexibility and freedom of movement, as well as clear view of the gameplay. From the nuclei, positioned by the enemy, a shapeless and viscous liquid mass spreads out through the ship and can be beaten back only by force of arms. When touched, the mass releases electric shocks which increasingly damage the gun, destroying it in the worst case. The player must dam the spread of the mass by bombardment whilst avoiding contact with the mass. On the rail system, temporary bonuses and Mali systems appear. Bonus items, such as a Booster, or new weapons support the player, while Malus items should be avoided if at all possible in order to prevent short-term disturbances of the weapon or the impulse systems.

Firing is literally done from all barrels! The player is able to select between cannons and rocket launchers, according to availability and depending on which weapon is more to their particular advantage. Tactical action with the positioning of the weapon and clever item-management decide in combination with logical long-term bombardment whether the player is eventually successful or is defeated.

so team Dawn Patrol is nearing completion of our first game, a single-player sci-fi shooter for iPad, running on Unreal.

We've only shown it to a few folks, so far - in the interest of getting some 'real-world' exposure I wanted to see if anyone's interested in kicking the tires. All you need is:

Trick is Steel, that thats where ther customers might be, *today*. But who knows how the market will be in 6, 12, 18 months time?

Most proactive developers are looking towards universal frameworks which mean they can develop the core game once, and then generate versions for each platform that require minor adjustments. Thats what we did with Word Soup. The core is common, and then specific iPad elements are worked on just prior to release, along with BlackBerry specific issues, and Android specific, and, and [ad infintium] :)

Its the only practical way forward and no matter what all our own personal favourite formats may be, there's an awful lot of customers the other side of the river.
