I have a movie on a dvd that id like to put on my ipod.
1.I bought the movie with my own money.
2.I wont give the file to anybody else.
Ive out movies on my ipod before.I just want to know if its legal and ethical. thanks.

It's your property, as long as you don't duplicate it and give it out, you're good to go.

Yes it's okay ethically if you don't give it out, but legally it is wrong to copy it even for personal, silly I know. But that's why they have copy protection on. However a lot of newer films are coming with digital download copies.

So would it be better to buy from itunes or is either way fine?

Try Videora. It has a link to a free DVD decrypter and is a good iPod touch/iPhone converter.

I use dvd decrypter and use the converter your talking about.Its works fine, but i wish you specify your own bitrate. anyone know of a better FREE dvd to mp4 conveter?

I read in a magazine that HandBreak is good but I tried it and it couldn't do copy protected DVDs so avoid that. I read on forums that many others found this problem too

Woud it possible to use the vidoera converter to create an mp4 than use another video converter to reconvert so i can specifie my own bitrate?
Would that work? I really like being able to specify my own bitrate.

I use Handbrake, never had any problems with it, great piece of free software imo
But then again, maybe I've just been fortunate enough to have never bought and tried to rip a copy protected DVD

So is there any software out there better than DVD decrypter? DVD decryter is old and is sort of hard to use.
