Major GameCube title being ported to the iPad [update - its RE 4]

Sure to be one of the iPad launch's biggest surprises, I've received confirmation of a major console game being reworked for the device.

Obviously, work was done to tailor the game to iPad, specifically the controls which have been reconfigured from the original controller settings. The game won't come with any new content, but considering how phenomenal a game this is, you're not going to be disappointed. Its appearance at all on iPad is going to knock your socks off.

I've relayed a riddle regarding the game's identity to Tracy, so if you want a clue as to what this surprise title is then listen to this week's iPhone gaming podcast. Otherwise, expect the big news soon.

My wildest shot guess - the riddle mentions Ted Kennedy and US health care reform...

Ok I've relistened and they just stress "Kennedy" so I think the "Claire" bit isn't right.

In which case, considering the stunted version of RE4 for iPhone sold well, I'm putting my money on...

A port of Resident Evil 4 for GameCube to the iPad, with significantly improved controls.

Along with everyone else on earth I've obviously already played through RE4, but will buy again for iPad if true, and hope many more GC and other full titles come to iPad soon.

I didn't like the iPhone version of RE4, hopefully I'll get a much similar console experience for the iPad version. RE4 is one of my all time favorites!

I'm all for RE4 on the iPad. Though, gotta wonder which direction will they go? Will they have a twin digital joystick control set up, or just use the controls from the iPhone version?

Resident Evil 4 is out on the iPad on the App Store ($13). Its just the iPhone version so its nothing to get too excited about (Pocket Gamer calling it a major GC release is kind of misleading, seeing how its not actually the GC title). I may get it because I passed on the iPhone version even though I enjoyed the first.

I doubt any Nintendo title will get ported to another console that doesn't belong to Nintendo. You should only expect 3rd party titles to get ported.

What's your point? Games owned by Nintendo won't be on the App Store if they are on the Game Cube or not.

EDIT: Scratch that, it's not even the GameCube version, it's a 100mb upscaled version of the iPhone game with more levels. Doesn't even have cutscenes.

What they're trying to say is that you shouldn't ever expect a Nintendo game on a non-Nintendo platform.

They were replying to your first reply in this thread, where you said that you were hoping it was zelda or smash bros.
