Yeah $15 seems a bit aggressive. I know it's on par with the PC, but it's not close enough to the pc version to justify a price close to the pc version, which I've seen for below $29.

Real Racing is outselling NFS but I when with this game because it gives you a better sense of progression which I love.

I agree totally. I hate to throw down 15 bucks when it will prob drop to 10 soon like u said. Just happened with Words with Friends. Paid 4.99 and it dropped to 1.99 next day. Not a huge deal but it still sucks.

It's EA. All their premium apps go down in about a month give or take. I'm predicting Mirror's Edge's pricedrop very soon :D. Too bad I bit the bullet on $12.99. Love it though. :D The price to pay for early adapters.

I have both Shift and RR HD versions (Asphalt 5 as well). And if you think RR is smooth, you'll find Shift even smoother. Graphics wise, Shift is the best racer out there. Just speculating but I'm not sure even the upcoming optimized GT Racing can top Shift. Based on the GT Racing HD screenshots, the trees look sick but the cars remain boxy and dull.

Many of the ratings are due to a failure to restart the ipad after download to clear background resources.

I say its the best looking arcade racer... the graphics are obviously better than real arcade, and even though being an arcade racer, real world car statistics have little impacts, having 30 distinct cars are much easier on the eye than like 8 cars with 5 "skins".
After all how "real" can a so called "simulator" be on an iPad with its imperfect control scheme? If I had to pick a driving game on the iPad, id pick the best looking one that would get my adrenaline pumping and give me alot of fun... regardless of whether its realistic or not, and the answer to that would easily be NFS shift

Well, the YouTube review posted on this forum isn't that well made. It doesn't show that you can changer your controls in NFS shift from the iPad automatically accelerating to, how the reviewer had it with the accelerate and brake, and furthermore the accelerator, brake, and the shifting stick. Also you don't have to have the green trail leading you if you don't want to, now the reviewer was right when he said the menu isn't the greatest, it really needs to get looked at, it's not at all complicated but you have to go back and forth a lot and it's just a pain. Lastly, I don't think people should even be comparing these games they're completely different, if anything compare asphalt 5 to NFS since they fall around the same price range 6-10 and they both are the same kind of racing game.

Gotta disagree with this. Picked it up last week and witnessed zero choppiness or pixelation. Graphics are great IMHO. Very happy w my purchase

Same here. I own both Shift and Real Racing. RR doesn't stand a chance in graphics which makes me wonder if loves2spoon really owns these games or just based his post in the youtube video.

I can't compare to the iPhone cuz I don't have it for that, but its got a certain character on iPad. Not the sharpest graphics or the smoothest frame rate (Real Racing is better in this regard IMO) but it certainly isn't bad looking. A little bit grainy due to no antialiasing but when it's moving it really doesn't matter!

They're both great games well worth having.

How are you guys controlling this? the pedals in the corner are awfully cramped. RR has perfect placement to my taste (anywhere you want) and I mimicked that setup with GT Racing, but NFS is awkward for me.

It's worth picking up - would feel a little more satisfied at $9.99 than $12.99 (the most I have spent on a game), but it's a good title worthy of the glowing reviews. I bought the iphone version for $1 and it forces you to auto accelerate and you brake by touching (almost) anywhere on the screen. Would have preferred that to the tiny pedal icons.

Ha for once the EA "rest of the world" side offer us a better sale few time ago. But after to have played it and Need for speed undercover iphone only, I have regret not have pick the iPhone version perhaps as fluid and graphically clean doubled than NFSU. It's very playable but not fully pleasant because of a frame rate not perfect.

You need to play the game seated, with your forearms resting against your thighs. This way the weight of the ipad is largely transfered.

Maybe It´s possible that way, but no sure real fun.The custumor pays so he should have the choice hoe to control a game. Should not be to much work for the programmers to ad two arrows.other companies give you the choice too.
I won´t buy any NFS game , when there is no touch control.And i´m sure, i´m not the only one.
The little ipad is called ipod touch, not ipod tilt. same problem there, even if it´s not that heavy.Just give us the choice ea and you will sell much more games.

YEAH! When will they make neural controller implants so I can just think the car to turn. Moving my hands and fingers is so 1990's...hmm...actually...I kinda like that idea. I'll sign up to be a beta tester is anyone knows any one developing this :)
