I know touchArcade is the best GAMES site, but what's a good place to check out all the utilitarian Apps? It's hard enough to keep up on the games, i could be missing out on some cool functional stuff too.

Appreciate the mention. The "problem" with appshopper and similar sites is it's unfiltered. There's a lot of value in that filter, which is what we try to do with TouchArcade -- post hand-chosen items that are the most interesting.

It's not AppShopper's purpose to be that filter... it's for the data-addicts, though there is room to maybe highlight good apps and add some other user interaction.

Going back to the original question, not sure what's the best general app site. I haven't found one that appeals to me.

That's what i was getting at. Sites that just list all the apps are about as useful as the app store itself. I was hoping some other sites had been making the dedication to reviewing the best apps in the way toucharcade handles the games. I appreciate everyones suggestions though.

IGN.com does a "This week in Apps" article which highlights some noteworthy apps each week. games or otherwise.

not exactly what you were looking for, but you might find it useful.

iPhoneAppy (http://www.iphoneappy.com/) is also a decent review site, with detailed videos of all the apps they review.
They do some games, but a lot of the other more serious apps too.
They also have an optimized iPhone version of the site, also with videos.
