haven't played past the intro.. it's very choppy..

Hopefully telltale will fix it soon.. I'm assuming it could be attributed to only having the simulator to test on..

Sounds like the Wii version of Season 1... That game was really fun, but really choppy. Too bad I can't find the disc...

Trust me, if you enjoy these games, you'll deal with the choppiness. It's not that bad if it's like the Wii one. I just hope an iPod/iPhone version comes out soon.

Telltale games have confirmed Tales of Monkey Island Coming too. I just really hope both of these franchises make their way to the Ipod Touch/Iphone.

Once they fix the optimization issues (now that they own an iPad) I'll be picking this up. I really hope more iPad optimized adventure games come out in the future! Grim Fandango anyone?

Sam & Max: The Penal Zone is an impressive game. I've heard of the series, but I have never played a Sam & Max game before. They are released episodicly, an there will be another four episodes. As a matter of fact, this was actually released before the PS3, PC, and Mac versions of this episode come out, and this is the full episode. Rich with animations and cutscenes that are fully rendered on the iPad. Easily some of the best graphics and production levels in the App Store.

Wow. The price already dropped? This is the first time that I'm a little annoyed by an App Store price drop. I bought the game less than twelve hours ago.

Yes the old lucas arts games would be great...but this is a different developer.

At 6.99 I am willing to dive into S&M. Thank you Telltale for realizing that 9.99 was too much.

From the telltale forum:

Hi all

For getting best performance, we suggest you have the game as the only app running. As a 3D game with richer graphics, it'll be smoothest if you don't have other apps running at the same time.

1. Hold down the sleep/wake button at the top of the device for a few seconds until the screen displays the message 'slide to power off.'
2. Power off the device by moving the slider.
3. Hold down the sleep/wake button again until the device powers back on.
4. When the home screen is displayed, relaunch the game

That is great but I hope there will be a better solution. It would be a pain to have to reboot each time I wanted to play your game. However it is great that you have at least a partial solution so quickly.

Even after rebooting the performance still isn't that good. I would get it if you're planning to get it anyways for the discount, but if the price spikes up then just wait until they fix the performance issues, it's not worth the download right now...I'm planning to write a 2 star review in the AppStore.

...and is it really a discount I'm starting to wonder. How much is the PC version?

Is the tutorial the only thing that is choppy? Or is the rest of the game the same way? The app store reviews don't look to good for this one so I've been hesitating.

It's really only bad in the tutorial and minor problems throughout, this was my first dabble in the series and it's just a hilarious and fun game really my first adventure game besides pajama Sam as a kid and I loved btw does any one know when episode 2 comes out-best iPad game so far

I've been patiently waiting for the new episodes to be released. A TellTale employee on the developer's forums said that the iPad version is on a different schedule and they're putting all of their effort into optimizing and polishing upcoming episodes for the PS3/PC/Mac. They also have a patch coming soon for this episode to fix the issues.

This is the best-looking iPad game so far in my opinion, plus they already have it at what the developer calls "equivalent to medium settings on the PC'. The average netbook could barely even run this. I wonder if they could push the iPad further in the graphics department, especially since they're taking their time optimizing their engine for the iPad.

Yeah, Ep 1 please as Lucasfilm haven't published a HD version of Ep 1, only Ep 2, and I won't play low-res, scaled crap on my iPad.

Hope so - I'll be waiting for any of these optimizations to arrive before buying this game.

Am I right to assume that even with the recorded playback issues and unliklihood of an update, folks feel this is a decent purchase, especially at $1.99? I take it that Sam & Max does improve after a full shutdown, like most complained about "it doesn't work!" games....

Got to love the reboot button. Solves many ills!

Reboot before playing this game every time, the framerate drops will be very minimal once you do.

Um... not sure. Can it damage your device if the game freezes and gets stuck on the screen for like 5 minutes before the idevice restarts itself (cuz you pressed all the buttons of course)?

The game itself seems like fun but it froze on me right after the credits (even though I rebooted my device) and then even hitting the home button didn't do anything. I didn't save and it sent me right back to the middle of the 5 minutes worth that I did get to play through. As soon as you get past this small amount of gameplay/tutorial, it shows you the credits and then I guess the real game begins. But I never made it there cuz it froze during the credits and reset my half of my progress. I don't like seeing my device freeze and am annoyed to find my progress reset so I'm going to hold off for playing for a bit. I know the chances for an update are low so I'm not really sure what to do with the game.

I bought it and it has been running fine on my iPad. I rebooted before playing. I've played for about 15 minutes so far. The graphics are awesome, and so is the voice acting. Totally worth $1.99.

Wow, I paid $9.99 and don't regret it. This is very polished and is a very good length, plus it's the most enjoyable iPad game to date despite minor, infrequent issues. I hope this is a "let's get more people on board for the other four episodes" sale. The different schedule for iPad users is annoying, but it should lead to an incredibly well-optimized game.

Finished this game on the iPad last week. Love it...great voice acting, really funny, fairly good ruining game playing right after a reboot, and good ending. Can't wait for the next episodes...hopefully they release the rest on iPad too. Definitely worth the $7 I paid for it, $1.99 is a steal.
