One of the better match 3s on the iPhone / iTouch and one of my personal favorites.

Tried this out PoV and I have to say that I love the graphics. The buttons that move the board are fine. The only thing that is weird for me is the placement of the icon for swapping. I keep looking for it at the bottom of the screen, and it is up at the top. Very confusing for my brain, but I am getting used to it. My scores and combos are not doing so great though as I get used to it.

For anyone that is thinking of getting an iPad, get Smiles HD and store it - otherwise you will be crying - actually it is better to get the paid version and support the dev - totally great game.

Try turning the iPad. You can place the bar on the top, the bottom, or even the left or right sides depending on the orientation.

If the orientation doesn't change when you turn, make sure you don't have the switch on the side of your iPad flicked. That locks it in the "portrait" orientation.

In a future update I'd like to include an option for manually locking whichever orientation you prefer, instead of just "portrait" like the hardware switch does.

I used to play smiles when I was in the phillipines and it wasn't a video game.

The Free download was poorly marketized. I could not even heard about until I was looking for prices changes.

It is unfortunate to lost such an opportunity to get that wonderful game for free.

I will stay with my principle of not buying any game twice. Or developers make the games universal or they will have to show new IPs.

Next time, try to marketize the promotion in a better way.

Well, I did everything I could to get the word out. Some sites picked up on the news story (Thanks TA!), but most didn't. As independent game developers we do what we can, but we're not EA, so our e-mails get filed in the "other" box rather than the priority one. And unless you really dig, you still can't find Smiles HD in the App Store (nor even the original Smiles).

- - -

In other news, I've fixed all the known bugs. The music skipping, the crash if you skip track then mute, the clipping bug on the achievement screen, and a little high score sorting error. Those will be included in the upcoming 1.1 update. If you've come across anything else weird, let me know.

Right now I have 2 features I'm looking to add.

The first was briefly mentioned in the other thread. The idea is that as your Drop combo gets higher and higher, the music volume gets quieter. That's a little feature to make scoring high combos a little more "intense", as the sound effects already reflect going big.

The second is adding a way for a family or group of friends to figure out who's score belongs to whom, or in other words, profiles. For 1.1, I might just do something simple; Letting you pick a Smiling character to go with your scores. I am thinking of some other ideas here as well, but I'd like to get this update out sooner than later.

If you have any thought, feedback, whatever, let me know. :D

Right now - NOBODY is touching my iPad - so I won't need profiles for a while, but I think profiles are good for games that lots of people like to play...

I don't always play with music, but the idea sounds good.

Sorry that exposure is not what it should be. I have no problems recommending Smiles to anyone that likes matching games. I think it is one of the best!

I've gone ahead and submitted a 1.01 update with the bugfixes mentioned above. The profile stuff will probably take a few days to a week to get right, so no reason to wait on me.
