Xbox 360 Resolution Problem

So I don't know what happened, but after my little brother got through with my xbox, the resolution got messed up, and now the 360 display stretches past the actual physical length of my TV, kinda like when you turn a widescreen movie into fullscreen. Now, the only way I can fix it is by turning the resolution to 480p (even though the TV's capable of 1080i) which then unlocks screen formatting (it grays out at anything over 480p, even 720), which allows me to get the picture to fit the TV. Thing is, now everything looks grainy, and it's bugging the hell out of me. Help?

Is this on television also? If so, reset your tv that might help.

Your using the compoent cables correct? Set your 360 to 1080i and make sure your tv isn't "zoomed" in? lol

Unplug all cables and try again, I remember this happened to me once long ago but went away after a restart.

Is this on television also? If so, reset your tv that might help.

I don't think it has anything to do with the TV. Blu-ray works fine with it.

I can't switch the zoomed levels (normal and widescreen, actually). That option's grayed out unless I'm in 480p.

It thinks the optimal resolution is 1080p, but the edges still get clipped.

This may be way off but sometimes it's the simplest solutions that work. On the component cable, is the little switch on the part that plugs into the back of the Xbox switched from SD->HD?
